What about the Raptor crossing a stream that is about 2 feet deep.. or a little higher? I have a TON of trails out by my house but the ONLY way to get to them is to cross a creek.. Sometimes the creek can be pretty deep.. I'm talking up to your seat deep.. How would a raptor do? I'm wondering if I might should think about a Scrambler 500 or something similar.. I really don't want a 4x4...

Tram,

Change your statement to should I get a Raptor or a 400ex and you are in the ballpark for a debate. The Warrior will beat you to death if you try to keep up with a Raptor (at least the way we ride). I've ridden both enough to know the differences. I prefer the Raptor over the 400ex for the power. Other than that, I don't think there is much difference in handling. The 400ex is slightly easier to ride mostly due to the extra weight of the Raptor and higher stance. You get use to the Raptor though and what you lose in corners you more than make up for everywhere else.

I am most interested to watch what happens with the Suzuki z400. I won't be suckered into buying another first year quad but it may be the replacement for 2 400exs.

Well.. I wouldn't mind having a 400EX but I am not really sure I'd like not having reverse.. I do alot of riding on trails where you often find yourself having to use reverse.. That is a luxury I am not yet willing to give up.. So that puts the 400ex out of the running for me..

If your riding through water seat high deep. You better get yourself some 3" PVC pipe and bolt it directly to the carburator (like in huevos flicks) or you won't make it to the other side on any quad.

Tram,

That leaves only the Raptor then. The Warrior is a big, outdated (yet reliable), half suspension quad that can't even come close to a Raptor except when riding in that reverse gear.

Bombardier in the trails - no
Polaris - no
Suzuki - maybe with the z400
Honda - you said no to the 400ex
Yamaha - only the Raptor
Kawasaki - yea right, NO!

Enjoy your new 2002 Raptor and stop looking unless you are willing to wait for the z400.
