hopefully my banshee will be fixed by then and i might can make it for a day.
the kermit dunes aren't the biggest but there is a lot of riding space. me and some buddies would just go out there and try to get lost for a few hours then come back. its a blast. that place will be packed on easter weekend.

Hey I have a couple questions about Kermit.. can anyone answer them...

A buddy and me are leaving April 4th to head towards glamis, but we were thinking of stoping by Kermit on our way as it only adds 150 miles to an already 2100 mile trip. (Cincy Ohio To Cali is a hike)

Are the non holiday weekends very busy? (Like the week after easter) We'd prolly get there Friday late and stay till sunday sometime.

Do you have to have any kind of permit?

Are you allowed to camp/stay on the dunes over night?

Whats the weather like?

Is it worth the stop?

TIA
Brad

kermit has a few places to camp. all they have is picnic tables. about 5 of them with tops on them. no water hook up, or crappers.
You DO NOT need a permit, there is not law there of anykind.
a very easy way to get there is by taking the monahans exit on I-20 and go north through monahans and 25 miles later your in kermit. the dunes are on the northeast side of town i believe. it will probably be packed during easter weekend.

Banshee Brad. it is worth the stop, but they probably won't be the same as glamis. at kermit there is a huge amount of riding space. you can camp. and the weather by april 4th. will probably be pretty warm not super super hot like in the summer. and you might get some wind.

i doubt you will need your gps. if you get lost just ride in one direction and you will run up on a trail that outlines the entire dunes. sometimes you can be at the far end of the dunes or just right there at the tables. the closes motel is about 20 miles away the dunes are outside of town a ways but not to far.

<< i doubt you will need your gps. >>

GPS... I never leave camp without it.. (besides at silver lake, it was less than 600 acres)

it's the one time you do need it that you won't have it.. or at least thats my luck
