I plan on buying a Kodiak maybe how are they in deep mud and water? Like if I was to put a snorkel and crap on it. And how is it for trail riding? The snorkel would prob be bad for trailing rite? Hills? ANd if I was to get One What is bad things about them? When I get one I want to add new rims and tires " mudzillas" and do i need a lift kit for that? But how are thay for they things I mentioned? Thnaks for your time kevin.

The only negative I heard about the Kodiak is that they tend to be a little tippy. Allthough not as much so as the Grizzly. I was considering this ATV but am leaning towards the Kawy 650 right now.

The Kodiak is a great machine, it handles water pretty good, better than my Rubicon. For trail riding it is good since it is light weight and easy to handle. It is great for hills with the 4x4 selection. The only bad thing is when you jump out 20 feet and 3 feet hight, about 20 times in a row you will break the linkage in the gear selector. As Redwood said they are a little tippy, I like that so I can ride on just 2 wheels. Check out my site and go to the places picture section, look at the Kodaik in the place we ride at.

The Kodiak is an awesome machine. I took it in water so deep that the seat was under water. (I didnt know the whole was so deep) Anyway, I had no problems after that. The airbox stayed dry the entire time. Lik every one else said, it is a little tippy, but that is a small sacrifice.

I bought a 02 Kodiak. It was my first quad and spent a lot of time deciding between a sport bike and a 4X4. (I have friends that do both)I chose the Kodiak based on lightweight and fun to ride. It is very fun to ride woods, gravel, and sand. It could use more horsepower in the sand (I will be trying K&N and a larger jet). I have rolled it once and on its side once. I held up well. No damage after 2 rolls. I was impressed it looked expensive from where I ended up.

Now that I have a year of riding I would like what the Grizzly has to offer, a locking front differential, independent suspension, and more hp.

Oh one other thing the seat has a tentency to push you forward towards the tank and push your pants the other direction. Can get uncomfortable if you are riding for a long time.

As everyone else, I love my Kodiak. No complaints and I ride on everything, rocks, sand, creeks, rutted trails, ditches, and some of the meanest Mississippi swamps. It has done everything I've asked of it. My only complaint is the front end is not locked. The thing I would consider is waiting on a 2003 model. It is rumored that the 2003 will be a 450 with locking front diff. and irs. I dunno about all these features coming out at once, but it might be worth the wait. Don't get me wrong, the 2002 is a great machine but more power and the other 2 features would be an awesome improvements.

I own a 2001 Yamaha Kodiak and it is the best purchase that I could have made. My friend has a 2002 Honda Rancher ES 4X4 and he likes it. My Kodiak just out performs the Rancher. If you look at the stats the Kodiaks dimensions are actually smallar than the Ranchers and its a 400. They are both nice quads, but as for me and my trails we are going to go with he Kodiak
