Just read april dirt wheels. No, It's not about the 750 ex!! Grizz Mud shoot-out Question.

I read the article on the mud shoot-out and says the grizz came in second. They pointed out that the transmition is not too water proof, just wondering what any body has done to counter-act this. They mentioned a kit that you can buy to "seal it up". anyone know how much it is and where you can find it?

I dont know about the Grizzly But what I thought was so funny. Was that it was a MUD SHOOTOUT. And The Bombardier Quest came in last. I wouldnt even care if it came in last with a good justifiable reason. But if you read about why it came in last in the Mud Shootout. It was almost all focused on the fact that they dont like the way the Quest looks. Because of its appearance. How do you lose a Mud Shootout because the quad "doesnt look like a winner" quoted from ATV Action. Thats bullcrap. Also the Quest came in 4th place in the low end power and came in 4th in the mid to top end power. Out of 5 quads. Now they said that the Quest out ran everything else in the drag races.By far. The quest is also the heaviest quad in the shoot out. So if it doesnt have any bottom , mid or top power. Then what rpm range did they have the thing at when it was smokin the other machines in the drag races. Also it was the only machine that didnt get after market exhaust, jetting, and filter. It was stock and it was beating the bigger 660 an 700 cc machines as well as the others with engine modifications and it had a bone stock motor. I mean its obvious it has the most powerful engine. In another magazine that tested it amongst other machines. They did a tractor pull. As part of thier shoot out and the Quest pulled the weight sled much further than any other quad. Their was a big gap between the quest and the second runner up. I swear these magazines dont give Bombardier quads justice. I mean they have the most powerful engines in thier class. Period. Its a fact. Pull the quest motor out and engine dyno it. It will put out higher numbers than any other utility 4x4. You pull the DS 650's motor out and dyno it. It will also put up higher numbers than any other sport quad. But no the mags say the Raptor and the Cannon have more powerful engines than the DS as well. Yea right. Just dyno the quads. Then the mags cant lie.

Andy Bassham, yea your probley right.
Sorry about getting all crazy about the Shoot outs. It just gets to me when I read that the Quest came in last in a Mud Shootout beacause none of the testers felt they would like to be seen riding it. I mean jeezz.

I've never seen a Quest in person but it seems to be a badass machine. I'd love to have the chance to ride one. Don't worry about the shoot-outs, they are just opinions. I don't like Polaris' so what. I think my quad should have one too. I guess that is why we bought the quad we have

I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything, but it's all about power to weight ratio. My CBR can beat a Viper or Vette, but who's got the most powerful engine? Bad example perhaps, but you get the point. A few HP more on the Bomb vs. the rest when it weighs 150 lbs. more is where the difference is, of course. Personally, I could care less who can pull a sled the farthest...or who's the best mudder (I'll go around on most occasions). I'd love to have a Quest if they put it on a diet. Plus, I only have a half ton to pull it. By the way, who came in 1st? OUT

The Polaris 700 won the shoot out. Also the Quest only weighs about 20 pounds more than the Sportsman 700.
PADZZ, you said your street bike has a higher power to weight ratio than a viper. Yes it does that it why your street bike can probley run 10-11s in the quarter mile at upwards of 125-130 mph or so. A viper will run low 12s at around 115-120 or so. now what if the viper came from the factory with more hp and ran a low 10 at 135 mph. Then the Viper would have a higher power to weight ratio then your street bike. Because it would not only be a heavier machine but it could also out accelerate your lighter machine. You see the Quest is a heavier machine than the others. But it out performs them in a drag race and pulling a sled. Even if it is heavier it still has more power to weight than the others. You said you dont care about muddin and who could pull the sled the fartest. Well The Quest beat them all in the drag race. All the other bikes got big gun exhaust, jets, and K&N filters. The Quest got nothing. Do ya care about that? And your truck wont have a problem pulling it. My 4 cylnder volvo wagen can pull a trailor with my DS650 and my friends 400ex with out any problem. Im sure your full size truck can handle a quest.

I totally agree with BADBOMB650, it just proves that the shootouts are based on the money spent through advertising in their magazine, And not which Quad is the Best all around machine. I don't neccesarly think that the Quest should of won the shootout(becuase of wieght, and handling), but Dirtwheels contradicts itself in every shootout! What little Credibility they had left after the Raptor and 400ex pipe shootout just went by-by.

maybe you need to read the dirt wheels january mag with the big bore shoot out where the quest came in last in the drag unless they went over 150 yards when it finally caught up and passed do to gearing (taller gears) not power.

Burnoffski, The April Dirtwheels had them only racing 300ft. 300 foot is only 100 yards. And they said the quest smoked everything. And 100 yards is less than a 150 yards. But maby the Quest will smoke the others in a drag race until 100 yards then it will slow down a little bit and the others will pass it at the end of 150 yards but then the Quest will fly by them all once again after it gets it taller gears as you have said.. Yea that sounds logical.. Maby thier is a dead spot in the Quest's powerband between 100 yards and 150yards..Yea sure thats probley what happends... Hmmmm.. Something to think about..That is werid that the same magazine would have drastically different out comes in the drag races with the same vehicles on 2 different occasions. One month The Quest smokes everything and the other month the quest is the slowest. Hmmmm. Are you sure you have read your mag right? Also burnoff, Why did the Quest pull the weight sled the fartest out of the other quads if it doesnt have as much power. Man this Bombardier Quest sure is a mystery. It doesnt have as much power as the other quads. But it will pull a weight sled further than the others Even with the taller gears the Burnoff said it had. And it also has that weird flat spot that the engine must fall into between 100 and 150 yards.. I think we should call ScoobyDoo and the Mystery Machine to come investigate this one.
