Ok here is the deal, a friend has a 400 and is trying his hardest to keep up with me and can't. What would he need to do it? Will just a 440 kit without a cam or head work keep up, or will it even keep up with all of that? He already has a pipe and filter. I am also talking on purely drag racing.

I'm glad you threw in the purely drag racing remark, (or this would of caused another cdale vs raptor war)

Yeah, no kiddin. I sometimes forget about how paticular you have to be about being fast because of handling, for some people.

I draged a 440 Ex and beat him starting in second gear. My raptor just has a GYT-R slip on Dyno stage 2 jet kit and a foam Pro Flo kit. The 440 had a pipe airbox mods and I dont know what else.

there was an article in which ever mag. that has "sarge" answering questions. anyway, the same question was asked about the 440 without the precise drag racing statement and sarge said no matter what he did he would never be able to hang with the big boys.(raptor, ds, ect.) but it was o.k. to dream. just quoting. i'll look around for that mag. tomorrow. later.

the dollars it takes to make the 400 as fast as the raptor is not worth it . my 450ex was just a hare faster then a stock raptor and ive got way to much money into it . once you wake up the raptor then the ex is sitting in the toilet again .unless your name is sparks or lrd

My buddies EX runs right along side my Raptor. All I have is a Pro Circuit slip-on and jetting. He has an I.M.S. 440 kit, GT Thunder cam, 39mm FCR carb, porting, and X-6 exhaust.
