My friend and I just received 2 of the massive amount of 4 of the 2002 Raptors released into Perth Western Australia. With a list price of $12700 Aussie dollars we are now broke. We want to add a few go-fast extras to take the bikes to the next level. Looking for suggestions which have been tried and proven ie. exhaust, air cleaner ect ect. Thanks in advance. Jezza

Break it in first as per the owner's manual, then put a ProDesign/K&N (or foam) air filter setup in the airbox. At the same time, Dynojet (or K&N Stage 2 jet kit, same EXACT thing) the carbs. Instant 12-15% increase in HP, even with the stock pipe. The jet kit changes the response also, makes it more instaneous due to different slide springs. These two mods form the foundation for later mods, including a pipe. Depending on the landscape you'll want better skidplates than the stock swingarm and glide plate, which are plastic (at least here in the states) and do not provide adequate protection for the rough stuff.
What's up with the Aussie dollar anyway? Or did you have to pay a premium because they were hard to come by?
Enjoy the ride, it's an awesome machine.

I don't want to whine but down here in New Zealand, Raptors retails for $16,500. And to get US after market parts, you can basically triple the $US cost with freight and tax. LSR A-Arms $2300, LSR S-Arm $2400, PEP ZPS fronts $2300. I crying in my beer as I speak just thinking about my bank balance. Ps my LSR swing-arm has a crack where the front cross member mets the side rail, and its 4 months old. sob sob....back it goes. Another months down time.
Anyway definitely get an air cleaner, carb kit and slip on muffler(at least). Handling/stabilty can be vastly improved with a wider rear axle and if you can track down someone locally whom makes wider A-arms (+3's) do it.

95Warrior,
I am thinking of trading my kawasaki Lakota Sport in on a Warrior. I was wondering how you like yours and if you can compare it to other models such as the 300ex or Mojave. I really like the Lakota, but it is just to heavy (445lbs) to be competitive. I have some aftermarket parts (see profile below) which helped a lot, but I still have trouble beating Mojaves and 300exs. With
mods like exhaust and filter, do you think the Warrior can take 300exs or 400ex? Well, thanks in advance.

The warrior will not neat a 400ex stock for stock. The mojave maybe. I also had a lakota sport and I was tired of always being last everywhere my buddies and I went. I traded it in after 6 months and bought a 02' raptor. Now I am FIRST everywhere we go. Forget the warrior and buy the raptor. It's a kicka&& machine straight out of the box and there are so many mods and after market parts available, that you can really make it fly.
