The Quads or the Jeep?
#1
Now it am at a stand still. The Blaster is being put back together with a new crank and all. The porting is about to get done and the bearings are on their way. As always the warrior has a broken tie rod and i just broke down and got the ricky stator tie rod kits. Also the warrior just got some trail tech lights installed (real nice by the way).
As of now the 90 YJ sits in the gradge wanting attention like the quads. It has 31's on it. And it leaks oil.
The problem is i have this desire to build a 4-Stroke quad that is street leagal, and i want to hook the Jeep up. What would you do? Go for your quad dream and build the fast street legal quad, or hook the YJ up with a lift and some major motor work?
I would do both at the same time, but as the budget premits it is not possible. Witch one should be done first? you decide.

I decided to do my Zilla first because it was a lot cheaper, but since it's done I'm pullin my 84 F150 into the garage and slappin' in some Moser axles, Detroit locker in the rear, Tru-Trac in the front, and a disc brake conversion on the rear........I junked the original 84 TTB POS frame and 8.8 inch rear for a 77 straight axle w/ factory 9-inch and Dana 44 in the front (same as the other frame), installed a 9-inch Sky-Jacker susp. and cut my old 3-inch blocks down to a 2-inch lift, and been doin' small things here and there on it to get it done.........I say since your Warriors runnin' ride that and work on the Jeep.............

I was thinking allong the same lines. The street quad can wait. I belive either way the total cost of each project will be about the same. Maybe next year both the Warrior and jeep can go out to gunnison, co to play.

I would definitely say Jeep first, project later. With the Jeep, at least you know exactly what you are getting into and whatever modifications and rebuilding it needs, you can plan for it. With a project quad like what you are talking about... that could drag on and really dent the wallet. Although a jeep isn't cheap to work on, either (Just Empty Every Pocket), it is what I would do.
Just my opinion.

Thanks, now i have got some fire under my butt to work on the jeep. Alaska you are right about the project. Now time to prepare for the 4.2 motor rebuild and all the goddies that are going to go with it. Detriot lockers and axle strenghtning are ready to be orderd. Here comes the Skyjaker lift.
I do like the grill, (O|||O)! -needs to be square though-

you've come to the right place if you want everyone to tell you to do the quad first?what are thinking? coming to an atv forum and asking if you should work on the quad first or the jeep? you already know what the answewrs are going to be,you just wanted to hear it from a bunch of other people so you wouldn't feel quilty about making your ol'lady ride the quad to work til you get the jeep done.

Accually there are many types of people that will give you their ideas about something o/t. Go to a jeep fourm and they will talk about their quads. Something to think about.
There aint gonna be no lady drivin' my jeep, ever. Jsut messin around. But it seems that the people whop have replied said the jeep.
