Cannibal or Raptor
#22
I would get there cannondale. Its the fast stock quad out there right now. It will beat piped raptors. I know this becouse my 400ex with a curtis sparks racing 440 national kit will beat most piped raptor. And I was beaten by a cannondale speed with an hmf pipe and remaped. Now a full on drag racing raptor will beat a cannondale in a drag race. But if you like to drag race you should get the banshee. No other bike can keep up with them. My brother banshee has cpi pipes, ported, v-force reeds, coolhead 18cc domes, and has never been close to loseing to a raptor. But for any other type of riding get the cannondale.

The cannondale frame is nice, I suppose its light but its hard to tell its 380 dry weight. The silencer weighes 7 lbs so minus that and the steel wheels, The engine is awesome, Yamaha tried to make the raptors frame light by not making it as strong in other places, and it started breaking and I dont think the raptors tranny is very good either the cannon has very strong everything

<< You have to be careful with CornDog. He has no technical understanding, little empirical knowledge and is a non-contributor (minus his bs and lies). I have to agree with the majority of posts here. If you are looking for a track 4-stroke, I think the C'Dale has a good marketing approach and concept for the bike. Most quads are sold for recreational use though and based upon the 20:1 sales ratio of Raptors vs. C'Dales most people are sticking with Yamaha for this particular purpose.
I like fuel injection and the novel approach that C'Dale has done, but the lack of cc's limits the bikes output for the vast majority of power-hungry Viper loving Americans (and some Aussies as well).
A slip-on silencer, jet kit and a simple filter change RADICALLY changes the Raptor performance. The last trip to the dunes there were two re-mapped C'dales running and while it isn't fair to compare them to my Trinity 686 (15 bike lengths when the hill ran out), my neighbors (pipe, jet, filter) Raptor beat the quickest one by 5 bike lengths and trust me this was by FAR the quickest C'Dales I had ever seen.
Harry at Trinity is actually a C'Dale dealer and supports some privateer C'Dale race team, so I bet if you guys begged Harry he would give us dyno numbers between the two. >>
No piped raptor will touch a piped cdale, come to ocala, fl.

My 2 cents
Raptor stock:
Good for big person who likes to trail ride
look awsome
motor has lots of potential/but not as powerfull as a stock c'dale
chassie is week
suspention not so good
Very tipsy in turnes
feels heavy
Had a few problems in 01,custermer service sucked.
Cannondale:
good for trail riding
good for ripping up a mx track
motor almost taped out but still can improve some/very fast stock
look awsome
chassie light an strong
suspention verry good
kinda tipsy/about like a stock ex
feels light weight and controlable
had a few problems in 01,custemer service fixed no problem
this is all from my experirnces, this forum, and the people I ride with.Just my 2 cents

cannondale has great customer service, however i don't think the cannondale is tipsy at all. also i was looking at one of the 2002 raptors at my dealer yesterday that was traded in for a cannibal and the frame looked very sturdy. i think only the 2001 raptors had the frame problems. the raptor looks very sweet in person. neither one of the engines are near tapped out, but the cannibal engine is much closer to its full potential than the raptor. i think if you want to just go trail riding get the raptor, if you may want to try some racing or want to stand out go with the cannondale.

No Cannondale near 50HP? I'm not sure but I bet a Cannondale with a FMF Titanium Exhaust, 454cc 13.8:1 Piston, Cams, & Remap would be pretty close to 55/60HP. Then add on to that some Porting & Cut a decent sized hole inbetween the lights and you could probably add around 10 more HP. And don't forget the ability to change the shape of your powerband. I'm waiting for someone to come out with a Wide-Ratio Trannsmission for the C-dales, seeing how the transmission is a casette style it could probably be changed pretty easily. Oh yea also a DS engine could more than likely handle more Hp than the Raptor engine also.

<< All very good comments, but I have yet to seen ANY C'dale come close to my Raptor or my neighbors Raptor in a pure speed race. Hopefully next dune season there will be something quicker than C'Dales with remapped ecu's, because they are no where near a good running piped and jetted Raptor. If anyone knows of any in AZ that would like to take this challenge on I am more than willing to make it come to pass. >>
i think you are mistaking a 400ex and a cannibal because i am sure a piped cdale will beat a piped raptor.

i agree w/ kingraptor i have yet to see any cdale even get close to a raptor. i have raced a few at my local dunes and all have come up too me all high and mighty and all have lefted all pissed off and never to race me or a another raptor again! must suck to spend all that money and then get smoked by some dumb slow ***, carb blowin, axle bendin, raptor!!!
