What's the feeling on using premium grade gas (93) instead of regular grade (87)? My manual says that only regular is needed, but I wondered if the extra money spent for premium would make any noticeable difference. Any insight into this? I'm riding a new Big Bear.

Use what the manual says unless you raise the compression. The higher the octane the harder it is to ignite, this is to prevent detonation on high compression engines.

Your quad will not run better with high octane fuel on the contrary it may run worse & you will have more carbon buildup sooner.

My friend Elvis loves chili and peanutbutter and banana sandwiches, after about 3 hours he get the matches out to light the gas for relief.
Its just something to do on the Islands you know.

Just for the sake of argument i run premium to limit my possibility of predetonating and blowing my piston to peices.

Something else to add. When you run a higher octane your engine runs hotter because the fuel is harder to ignite and when it does the fuel burns hotter. Point being heat is your enemy and the cooler you keep your engine running the more horsepower and enigne life you get out if it.
