Yamaha Warrior or 300EX or....

My advice would be to sit tight and save your money until you can afford a more advanced machine, and here are my reasons: The 300 definitely has better suspension and handling, but you won't see that much difference in power compared to the Blaster (I owned a Blaster for years by the way). You will minimum want to pipe and K&N the 300, and change the tires if they are stock, so that will cost you extra money.
As far as the Warrior goes, stay as far away from these things as you can (by the way I owned a Warrior for years too, OK!!!). They just handle like a big heavy tank. I know you said you rode one, but how many other bikes have you ridden to compare it to???? If you are used to a quick handling Blaster, you should REALLY have noticed the difference! Believe me it is a real DOG compared to a 400EX, Raptor, or anything else that has REAL SUSPENSION. There are just so many other bikes out there that will give you more for your money, and there be more used 400's and Raptors on the market all the time.
If your Blaster isn't moded, you might want to spend a little on it to hold you over. But, I would say save your money, and later step up to a performance machine.

wait for a good deal. i got mine off of coworker for 3000 it was still new(original oil)it sat for two years with minimal riding.i serviced it. not even a scratch. he was hurting for money. he bought it and did't have time to ride it only time to work to pay for it. the warrior was just broke in. mods included. so i really got a new warrior plus mods for 3000 not bad i think. hey i was the one that was gonna get the warrior but i thought instead of buying another machine why not get the blaster goin faster and more powerful. well i'll tell ya what if you put a fmf fatty pipe and a power core 11 silencer on your blaster you will waste that 400ex off the start with no problem. i did this to mine and i can keep up with automatics off the start (like a 600 grizzly and boy let me tell you what they are the hardest thing to keep up with for any machine thats standard) so alls ya got to do is put some more mods on that blaster and bore it and you will waste a 400ex. it will cost some money though. but its your decision personally i like 2-strokes better their more fun.
good luck,

i own a 97 300ex and i stomped all my friends warriors and the 2 blasters....and its only piped, holeshots, and has a k&n.... but i have to get a new quad, the 300-350 class is getting boring, if i were you, id save , save and then do a lil more saving, until u got like 3000, then put that towards anew quad, and mae monethly payments, if u can, otherwise, id get the 300 and buy a pipe,k&n, cuz thats bout as lose to beating the 400ex as yer gonna get..., and your still not gonna win, thats why i gotta get a z400, cuz all my boys have been gettin 400ex's and a couple banshees and i gotta show em up some except for the banshees

Get the 300ex and you'll regret it. Sure it handles alot nicer than a stock blaster but it's a real slug. The Warrior is alot faster, quicker, and more fun. HOWEVER, in your case of not having enough cash for a bigger machine (400ex,Raptor,Banshee) I HIGHLY suggest you simply upgrade your blaster a bit to make it less of a slaughter you have to endure. Save your dough and buy a better machine. Heck if the 400ex is your target save up a couple grand, sell your blaster and buy a 400ex. It's just that simple. Buy a lesser machine and you'll always be slower and unsatisfied. You could always just find slower riders to be with, it's alot cheaper.
