I took my 2000 Big Bear through some serious mud today and I never got stuck! I had to pull out a 2000 Honda 300TRX and a 2000 Honda 400EX. Those EX's are freakin bad though. Anyways, I had the Big Bear in mud up to my knees(mid engine) and she plowed through it all. I went up some bad a$$ hills too, I absolutly love my Big bear!!

My 00 Big Bear 4x4 got stuck for the first time in some really sticky lakeside mud only 2 or 2 1/2 feet deep. The stock Maxxis tires got clogged immediately and just spun, as I slid left trying to steer right I got deeper in mud. My 9 year old son thought this was too cool! It was also the first time I had to use my Warn 2000 winch - best $69.00 I ever spent. Next set of tires might be Vampires. Two other 4-wheelers got stuck right behind me and my BB pulled them out without a problem. That day we rode for about 5 hours and I didn't even burn a 1/2 tank of gas. It is still an awesome machine. If you like shifting, it may be better than the auto Kodiak.

zinj....u may not need to buy a bigbear to get the more lowend power you are looking for....the bigbear has lower gears in its differentail that will fit inside the wolverine thus lowering the gearing.....i didnt relaize this was possible till i talked to a guy this weekend that had a wolv with 27X12X12 vampires...i asked him how he turned those big o things then he said he just lowered the gearing....also said you can turn the gear around backwards and it will lower it...i dont know how true that is but im gonna give it a shot on my machine cause he could spin those big tires like he had a 450cc engine...

Yea, my Big Bear is stock except for a K&N air filter. I'm adding vampires soon though, and I'm seriously thinking about an FMF or White Bro's muffler, what do you all think? And yea, the Big Bear is a great hill climber/tow'r. I had to pull out a Polaris 500 Sportsman from a mudhole I had just gone through friday night.

I agree with big bear. you should also look in to a filter and pipe to help you low end. a big bear4 is a good choice. it has plenty of torque and beat the xplorer and racher in a shoot out. the wolverine alos beat the rancher. also the reason the polarises got stuck is because they are so heavy and it just spunout
