anyone raced a stock Raptor against a stock Cannondale?

<< please don't make up stories, i will only make the people here hate u >>
Does anyone else hear that?? No, I didn't either. For a minute there I thought I heard the unmistakeable ramblings of a PATHETIC LOSER that always seems to pop in and contaminate something resembling a REAL discussion. But it can't be, because EVERYONE out here has already told him (MANY TIMES) that his presence and WORTHLESS OPPINIONS are not wanted out here. Surely he has gotten the message by now that ANY COMMENT that is posted by corndog is considered a complete and total LIE and only posted to start an argument or to draw attention to himself. Besides, it can't be him defending a Canondale because he doesn't even like his. So much in fact, he is selling it. So if anyone is interested in a gently ridden Canibal with low hours, low miles and low self esteem after having a corndog on it's back for a few months you can probably get a pretty good deal. Look him up the Cannondale Forum..........no, that didn't want him there either. He may have made his way to the Artic Cat Forum by now, he should be able to beat them guys over there. Unless it snows!

Two *stock machines (Raptor & Canondale) Best holeshot wins.

I still have trouble saying the words "Stock Canondale". I know that's the way they are shipped to the dealer, but it's like calling up DEI and asking if they will sell you a Monte Carlo. The Canondale is touted as a "race ready" bike. They don't even have spark arrester screens in the stock pipe that comes on it so you probably wont even be able to get into some of the stricter national ride areas. The compression is up so high that they recomend rebuilding the engine after on 20 hours of riding. The Canondale is an awesome bike, that can't be denied. They are getting a lot of performance out of that little engine. My only comment is the old apples to oranges argument. Trinity and a few other companies are evening the playing field on compression and cam modifications. After those mods have been performed to make the Raptor "race ready" there really isn't going to much to talk about after a few runs. The only little saying that I have also heard said when talking about the Canondale is that "out of the box" it is a better performer than the other bikes. Yes that is true. Because it was built to be that way. It wasn't built to run on regular unleaded gas, it wasn't built to use standard Yamalube that has been around forever. And it wasn't built to have a last for years without rebuilding the engine because they built it to run as hard and as fast as it could on new engine conditions because after 20 hours they want you to rebuild back to those conditions. It is a good concept for someone who has the time, skill or funds to maintain it the level that it needs to keep it's performance level up.
OK then................. Like I said: two stock machines (best holeshot wins)

1986 how long where the races you are refering to?
Probably about 200 yards... At least that's what I've been told the strip is.
I don't doubt that under certain conditions on a given day that a Raptor can outrun a Cannondale, just with halfway decent riders, C-Dale "should" win & does from what I've seen on multiple occasions.
Heck, I've outrun a supercharged Mustang in the 1/4 with my tired old Vette & I know for a fact he was developing MUCH more HP than I was & was turning much better times than my car is capable of earlier in the evening. There's so many variables - he got excited and incinerated his tires off the line, I bit down and went - he didn't have enough time to catch up.... It was a proud moment for all Chevrolet fans....
GregV- Stick it to 'ole corndog, sleeping catfish, or whatever he calls himself (depending on which board you're reading)... Ouch
No one has trouble saying stock CRF450R or YZ426F, why treat C-Dale any differently - they've finally produced what everyone's been screaming for from Honda & Yamaha for years... 20hr rebuilds on the C-dale are much like the text of your typical (KX, YZ, RM, CR) dirtbike manual that states you should re-ring it after every race... Sure, if you're a pro-level rider with a trailer full of goodies & a team of mechanics it's probably not a bad idea to get that extra .1 HP that you may lose after a race, but we all know a MX bike can and will go MUCH longer than one race without a top end rebuild and still put out very healthy amounts of power. They're covering their butts from the morons that would buy one and give it ZERO maintenance (which happens to be the one of the reasons none of the other manufacturers will give us such a performance related engine - I hate to say it, but ATV'ers as a group aren't the maintenance freaks that many dirtbike riders are)....
Also, the power delivery differences between the Raptor and Dale are like comparing a diesel and a two stroke. The Diesel may put out really good torque and accelerate well because of it, but the two stroke is so much more condusive to race conditions & spirited play riding.
Personally, I think the comparison is like comparing a CRF450R to an XR650R.... They both have a purpose, but the CRF is SO much more fun to ride (for what I do).

We sold a Cannibal to a guy two weeks ago and he does nothing but drag race. This will be his third weekend to run in the stock class.
He hasn't been beaten yet by anyone but a Banshee with pipes.[Yopu can add pipes in the stock class]. Where the rules come in his favor is that he can add a HMF slip on and the MOto mapping and really smoke ***.
I have his pipe on order right now. There will be alot of Banshees and Raprtor guys in the shop in the next two weeks wanting the "best" pipes money can buy.........LOL
Stock vs. stock,....I think the DS,Cannibal,Banshee, and Raptor are all in a tie for top speed honestly. With just a little bit of difference between rider weights, it can vary from bike to bike when talking about top speed.
In the 1/8 mile, I don't think there is any denieng that a Cannibal has it over the rest of the bikes, just not by much. More than an 1/8 mile is a coin toss. But by most track rules, the mapping of a Cannondale isn't considered a engine modification. That's why the piped Cannibals with Moto mapping blow by everything else in the stock class.

I finally saw some cannons run on the sand a Little Sahara, even rode a moto.
The sand races- they cannons SHOOT out of the hole, i was impressed! The pipeed raptors made it up in the middle and generally won the race. I would say the cannons won more than the lost. If there were 7 raptors in the race the cannon would probably beat 4 of them.
I hate to say this, but a lot of raptor pilots (at L.S.) do not ride to well.
If you own a cannondale you probably have ridden a lot, and know how to ride.
The 686 eats cannons! No real surprise there.
