yamaha smokes

the compresion is good but it smokes real bad what is my problem. it is a 87 yfm 225.

Thats a three-wheeler right? Sounds like rich jetting to me, or maybe bad rings.

no it is a 4-wheeler its my uncle's I dont know that much about it he just bought it real cheap and hes tryin gto get it running good again. It was abuse by the prev. owner

its your valve seals there nototrius for that problme when they get older

blue smoke means oil. it's either the valve seals or the rings. one good way to check is to let it sit over night, fire it up the next day and see if it smokes bad and slowly gets better. or, you can also just let it idle for a while then rev it up. after revving it up, and alot of blue smoke comes out, it's more likely to be your valve seals.
if it just straight out smokes all the time, your rings could be the culprit.
