king raptor,it almost sounds like you're trying to be little everyone that owns a 400ex.
you say if your a women or a tiny man than a 400ex would be fine.i think thats quite the contrary.i'm 6'2" 195 and i think the 400 is a fine machine for my size.
by the way i'm just curious about your 686 kit.how does that thing run? is it worth the money? because i don't see what the benefit of spending that much money ona big bore kit would be when mildly built 250's can smoke them.
i have two friends with the 686 kit and one with the 720 and my tecate flat out smokes them in every way.on the track in a drag race and everywhere in between.
but maybe you have something these guys don't.
but i really get the impression that you love your raptor and that you believe it's the best machine money can buy.and you're entitled to your opinion i guess.well good luck with it.
and if you ever run across me and my tecate 4 please come up and say hi,but don't line up next to me please.you'll regret every penny you ever spent on that raptor.

The only 250R's that keep up with me are heavily modified ones. I raced 2 this weekend including my old one, It had a mid range pipe, mild port job & higher compression. The other 250R was fully tricked out for all out power. I beat my old quad by several lengths, the tricked out 250R was even with me. We raced about 150~200 yards & I out weighed both of them by 100 lbs. I also raced a stock Shee we were also dead even in the same distance, I also out weighed him by 100 lbs (he's coming back with pipes so I may be toast if I don't drop some pounds!). This was compleatly informal racing we lined up 4 across & let it rip, we did standing & rolling starts.

look at the New Sahara pics on My Web Site whoevers quad was in those pics would be glad they bought it no matter what it was. Everybody buys a quad for what they want to do with it, It's a personal decision just like buying a car or truck. I'll admit that the looks are what first attracted me to my Raptor & Dakota but the performance is what sold me.

After rippin up the dunes this weekend it doesn't matter what anyone says about my choice of quads, the lizzard loves the sand & I enjoy riding it. Damn these things are fun!!

Killer- liar, liar pants on fire, hang upside down on a telephone wire......

Tecate4- been there, done that! Highly dissapointed in that modded Tecate. How about some Tecate dyno charts.

well i haven't personally seen killerkx drag a big bore raptor yet cuz i just met him not too long ago but believe me his tecate is VERY modded out. its fast as hell. and i have seen him absoluty destroy a raptor with a complete big gun exhaust.

Killer,

Ever think that some people want a simple quad and don't want to 'build it all'?

To get a 400 to compete with a stock Raptor, you still need to 'build it'. You put a simple pipe kit on the Raptor, and the 440 is in real trouble.

BTW, I agree with King. The 400EX is not that thrilling to ride (I owned one for 2 years). The Raptor on the other hand, is.

Have you owned a Raptor? How 'bout a 400EX? If your Tecate is as fast as you say it is, then you should be agreeing with folks to say the motor on the 400 is pretty weak.

ok i'm getting attacked from every angle here.i will do my best to defend my self here so bare with please.
velocityraptor i'm a 31 year old man, thats been racing for a long time and building engines and quads and bikes for even longer.i have nothing to gain by lying to a bunch of strangers that i don't know.
THEMOOSE and you said that you went handlebar for handlebar with a stock banshee,i commend you on your honesty, not many people would admit that.
KingRaptor it's obvious that you're stuck on stupid!!!you have know idea what tecates are all about.they came bonestock from the factory with 42 horsepower.and how much does a raptor have?33-36 hp correct? ok mod out the raptor with a big bore kit better jetting maybe even a bigger carb ,exhaust porting a cam and so forth.now you have about55 -60 horse power right? and you can turn rpm's in the 7000-8000 useable range.
now take my tecate 42 horse, put on a pipe, ignition system, bigger carb, porting ,balancing tweaking here and there and whala i end up with around the 55-60 horsepower range and a motor that turns almost 12,000 rpms and a 6 speed transmission and wieghts about 60 lbs. less then your raptor and now go do the math.
i whip raptors like yours on the way to a race.
well you know what i've found out in the last couple weeks? that the only people that don't like me on any of the forums are the raptor owners.i wonder why that is?

rennym well since you're the only one that had a legitimate reply to my controversial post i will be especially nice.i would've been nice anyway.
i'm not sure quite how to state this. but i never said anything about the power issues on the 400ex.yes it would take quite a bit of loot to get the 400 in the same league as the raptor.but i really like the 400 and it;s fun and it is fast.
now whats funny is that before the raptor the 400 was the best you could buy and one of the fastest. now that everyone is spoiled by the power of all these other quads that are out,now everyone wants to bash the 400ex.
but the fact remains that the 400 is still an excellent machine only overshadowed by the newer high tech machines that we have been fortunate enough to have bestowed upon us.
i like the raptor,as long as i don't own it.i like the 400ex it's a good reliable machine.i don't like to bash peoples rides, and i certainly don't like to be bashed but i guess i do leave myself open sometimes. my own honest opinion seems to be what people don't like to hear most of the time.
oh and i have owned a raptor and a 400ex.and i still love my tecate more then any of them.i've owned just about every quad ever built at one time or another.and i've wrenched on every quad ever built and i still do thats my job i am a service tech for the big 5 manufacturers.
the big 5 includes of course ,honda ,kawasaki, yamaha, suzuki and cannondale.

i hope i was able to answer everyones' questions without offending.but i still don't care what you call me,i will race any raptor any day!!!

Killer- you are fairly new to this forum. You need to do some searches before you hit the keys. Your tecate is nice......... But the big dogs are out.
