Do you regret buying a raptor?
#21
<< No regrets, I have a 250R, had a canibal, had a lt500, and I've ridden Banshee's, 400EX's, and a DS 650. For the type of riding I do (Trails mostly) I like the raptor better than all of them. Is the Raptor perfect right out of the box...NO. But with some modifications it is now perfect for me. >>
i don't like my cannibal either.

Let him buy whatever he wants. If he wants a 400 EX for his wife instead of a Raptor thats fine, maybe she's just going to do some easy trail riding through the woods with her girlfriends on Scramblers. Oh, wait it wasn't for his wife was it??

Well copyguy, if that is how you look at it, you didn't ask about people's experiences with a 400EX.
Those 10 good things about a 400EX are now negated by the fact that people crack their swingarms on the 400? How about the automatic decompression release bearing goes? How about the starter motor goes? How about people crack the frame on it too?
You don't make any sense. The 400EX has weak parts to it too. Not to mention that the performance of the motor was one of the MAJOR reasons why people choose the Raptor, and frankly Yamaha decided to copy alot of the 400EX's good qualities.
You asked if anyone had regrets? Only one person said no, and Marty seems to like the DS over the Raptor. Not the Honda over the Raptor. You didn't ask if Yamaha built a perfect quad.
Neither does Honda.

A friend of mine cracked his 400ex frame right where the shocks mount to the frame on both sides. Another friend of mine has a 400ex and the shock mount on his lower a-arm completely broke apart from the a-arm. What about when you fock up your grab bar and have to replace the whole subframe.
See, everything has problems. The Raptors HAD tranny problems and weak axles, the C-dales HAD a bad front end and crappy handling, and the 400ex HAD some swingarm problems and has all the same week points on the frame as any other quad on the market.

I'm sick of all this brand loyality CRAP!!! I buy Yamaha because I have never had trouble with any of there products. That doesn't mean I would never buy some other brand. I'll bet half of the pieces parts on all the major manufacture's ATVs come from a lot of the same vendors.
