WHY is the 2002 alot faster than the 2001 they are both stock the only thing the other one has is tires. And he has had his for a year this was my first weekend with mine just wondering if anyone knows anything about it

 

I believe there were complaints about the "gearing" in the 2001 models, and this was corrected in the the 2002 models. That might be part of what you are talking about. Other than that, I am not aware of any other changes done to make one "faster" than the other.

Anyone else know of a change that would make a difference between the two?

 

I own a 2001 Raptor my dad has a 02, similar mods & very close in performance. Maybe somthing is not set up correctly on the 01 ex. filter, jetting. Just a suggestion.

 

HE has stock jets but he does have a twin air that wouldnt slow it down would it i mean when we raced i was like 2 or 3 bikes ahead of him

 

We have found the 2001's to win more drags than the 2002's. Maybe staying in the first 3 gears alittle longer helps.

 

Who says the 2002 are faster? Just because you race one 2001 and win doesn't make them faster. Swtch rides and try again. Race against several 01 and see. Its all about holeshot and you knows how to get the power from each gear. JMO Ive never raced a 2002 myself, but i'm sure i will someday. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

i didnt say all of them where faster i was just asking if anyone knew anything about them and that his was just slower than mine
