Hey Guys
I want to go to a aftermarket cam and piston.
I want more mid to top end power.
So far I have inlarged the air intake to 3 inches and I'm using a K&N Filter and Outerwear and a DG pipe.
I ride a 95 Wolverine that I bought new and it has low hours but I've outgrown it and how want more power.I'm running 25 inch Sur-Tracs and want the get up and go when in the trails.

Hi,

I just got my 95 Wolverine put back together,I used a Highlifter piston/cam kit,I went .040 over 10.25:1,and got the 88 grind cam, which is a bottom/mid cam, since the Wolverine is geared a little high to begin with, and 25 inch tires make it lug on the bottom end,or when bogged in the mud a little. You said you want more top end, they also offer an 84 grind cam, which is a mid/top end type. The kit comes with the piston, your choice of cam, heavy duty valve springs, head and base gasket, for 279,with a 90 dollar core which is refunded when you send your old cam back.
I just got mine running, now the jetting needs to be set up,with the bigger piston, cam, and having the head ported out,it flows a lot more air,I went up 4 sizes on the main, and it is still lean !! I'll probably need to go up one on the pilot jet as well. Pulls good on the bottom, won't know about the very top until I get the jetting right, but it should be pretty impressive over stock.
You are running Maxxis tires, how do they compare size wise to the stock as far as actual size? I have heard they run smaller than the stated size,so what did you come up with for measured height on the rim?
Anyway, I hope the above helps you out a little, you can check the highlifter web site, highlifter.com,or call 1-800-699-0947,ext. 2030,ask for Jeff Newman,he has all the info on the kits and what they do.
Check it out and see what you think.
Also, could you send a picture of your 3" intake,or how you set it up,I am interested in doing something like that. Thanks !!!!

I have a 99 wolverine with a fmf mega max 2 pipe, k&n filter, outer wear and jet kit. That was good but then I had it bored .020 over with a white bros piston. I also have 25" bear claws. The piston really brought out the power. I tried the 23" tires but it revs out too fast. I was going to go with a cam but you will lose bottom end, maybe that is fine for you. Plus, I don't think it would be worth it, not here in nova scotia, the cam is $400 alone.

Hey Guys
There has to be more Wolverine owners out there that have gone the cam/piston route? I want a few more options yet.
