Is it common for the valves to need adjusted??
My dealer states that they never adjust the valves unless there is a problem... (i personally think he is on crack)
What would you experience if there was a need for a valve adjustment?
What prices did you pay for it too!?!
thanks guys

Kraw & Frogman~
Find a dealer that has a decent service dept. The Yamaha service manual states that the Valves need to be checked, and adjusted if necessary, at the following intervals:
MILES 200 | 750 | 1500 | 3000 | Every 1500 miles there after
HOURS 20 | 75 | 150 | 150 | 300
Of course if you suddenly heard the valves making a lot of noise out of the ordinary, regardless of where you are in the maitenance routine...get it in to be checked. Folks a heck of a lot smarter then me have stated that the valve springs on the 660's are on the weak side and I've read where some guys have had problems with their valves, more so then other guys....
Also, you can adjust your valves yourself, but I would have the dealer do the initial adjustment because you should still be under your 6 month warrenty by the first 200 miles / 20 hours and my dealer only charged me $40.00 to adjust the valves on my Grizzly.

Just to let you know, these guys didnt...but said they would if i really wanted them too. Would cost extra and that it really didnt need to be done. I read the manual as well, and i am going to have them do it. Better safe than sorry. I think a little preventitive maint. is always better than a BIG fix afterwards.

I agree Kraw...had mine done today. Was at the shop while they did it...kinda like getting an oil change, i wanna see what's being done! But anywho, it was fine. No adjustment needed.
Let me know how yours comes out. I still need to take my wife's bike up and have it done.
