why do we need shifter linkage?
#1
ok, why did yamaha use the shifter with linkage on the raptor why not just a direct shifter like ROLL DESIGN. it would be cheaper. is it with the direct shifter it put to much pressure (hard shifting) on the shifter shaft and the linkage keeps that off.
must be some logical reason!!

I put a banshee shifter
from msr on mine 2 weeks ago
and it is a lot nicer shifting
than with the stock one don't
buy the roll they don't work
I've send two back already
when you get the banshee one
you have to bend it in a vise
to make it work but when you get
the bend right it fits right on
it also has a spring loaded toe piece
they are $20.00 at rocky mtn.
very nice hope this helps

I talked to the guys at ProDesign and they said that they believe the linkage is there to reduce the shift throws. The Raptor has high pegs in relation to the shift shaft and the linkage reduces the shift throws because of the shift shaft, peg locations. They also make a direct mount shifter that looks real nice and some guys on here have it and like it (swifty is one I believe) Don't get the RollDesign. I sent two back as well. Maybe they're fixed now but they weren't when I got em.

Still waiting for mine from Prodesign...
As far as RollDesign goes, everytime I call them about one of their products that they advertise in the pretty colorful pictures, they don't have the thing yet, or it'll be any day now, we'll call you back, etc etc...
I called about the GPR(?) steering stabilizer today & they said they'd call back. They called back & asked what I wanted to know about it, I said any details would be helpful, functionality, price etc, they said they would call back again, they didn't. They don't carry the products they advertise, their shifter doesn't work, no web page?, they sure spend a lot on advertising though!
