How can you tell if the chain needs replacing?

Usually if you have adjusted it 3/4 of the way out on the chain adjusters your about do for a new one. Remember to use o-ring safe chain lube and lube your chain frequently. This will keep the chain from abnormal wear and decrease chain streatching.

OK question here. How do you guys check the tension in the chain ? My friend say you check it by sitting on your bike and measuring while its "under load". The raptor manual doesn't make any mention of sitting on it while measuring, is he nucking futs ??

It is set up to measure WITHOUT a rider on it. If you were on the trail by yourself, it would be hard to sit on it and measure it at the same time.

Mine says to push the slack of the chain on the top side down, take measurement. Then push all the slack of the chain on the top side up, take measurement. It should be within 1 1/4" to 1 3/4" slack - with 1 1/2" being ideal.

The 520 is stock, 530 is a bigger chain. You will have to replace both sprockets (if you can get them?) But the price difference probable isn't worth it.
