Yamaha sells a small Tach/Hour Meter for $50 that should work. I am looking into getting one myself. I haven't got yet, but I will.

I have a tiny tach from rockey mnt. atv and it has a wire that you tape to your spark plug wire and it takes a signal from the wire sort of like a timing light. when the atv is not running it displays as a hour meter. this meter has never failed me and its been on my raptor for 130 hours! I think it sells for around $40

ive seen the one in rocky mountain, but i was hoping for the 2 5/8 autometer tach that i can see pretty good and not have to worry drawing my attention away from riding riding. i believe the autometer tachs have four wires how many does the tiny
tach have? thanks.

am sorry, I was mistaken. the tach that I have my wife got out of Cabela's outdoor catalogit is very small and is hard to see but all I wanted is a hour meter more than the tach so it works fine for me. The tack is slow on updating up through the rmp range so I don't think its exactly what your looking for. It does seem to be accurate in the upper rpm's ( my raptor turns around 7800 rpm's) as well as down low. works great for making sure your idle is up were it should be so you won't be stalling when you let off the throttle on top of a big bank or something! hope I helped out!

The same tach/hourmeter is also available from www.sendec.com I believe they are the ones who manufacture it for everybody, including Yamaha.
