I have had this happen to me as well, although I haven't tried to fix it yet. But anyways, I was thinking....for the guys who say it is the whole steam in the carb thing....I wonder if by putting an outerwhere on the filter could you keep the steam from entering the carb? I'll probably try the grease thing first though.

I'm not trying to over complicate the problem, I was only passing along what I read on another site in regards to this.
Your dielectric grease solution would be an easy attempt at fixing the problem and worth trying first no doubt but if you notice that most of the others that it worked for also ride Kodiaks and that apparently that was the problem and cure that quad.
Frogman has an '02 Grizzly and according to the other Grizzly owners, the problem was a little more complicated than a touch of grease. I don't know because I don't own one. I wouldn't want to hack my quad up either.

If you notice the engine on the kodiak, old grizz and the new grizz all tilt at the same angle in the front allowing the water and steam to hit the plug therefore allowing it to die out or "sputter".
DIELECTRIC GREASE WILL WORK, you have my word!

Me and my friends went out riding today, and his 660 grizz started to sputter after we went through some bogs. I open the gas tank cap and it blew out of my hands there was alot of air built up in the tank. I looked down in the tank and the gas was bubbling. Then I notice gas was flowing out the top air vent on the carb. The grease solution on the spark plug cap sounds good for the wet spark theory, but whats with the pressure in the tank and the back flow of air in the tank(bubbles)? Any Ideas?

gascap is not venting properly. you either have blockage in the vent or a crimped hose.

I thought that too but I blew threw the gas cap vent tube and sucked threw the tube and I drew air each time. I'll check those vent tube on the carb for pinched or blocked tubes.

Thanks guys for the replies....

I will pick up some of the grease from the auto parts store down the street from me....i have been riding and havent had any problems otherwise. 500 mi on the griz

McGGuire, like i have always told ya before good buddy.....NAME IT, I'm there!

I rode with Colt yesterday...talk about a blast...went down some powerlines and through part of Norway trail system. DEEP holes, LOTS of mud, and VERY technical trails. I have never been so sore without wrecking a bike...hehe..ALL muscle soreness.

I think that we should start an exercise program to lose weight...5 hrs a day riding a griz in the hairiest trails and garantee 10lb loss in a WEEK!

I Have the same sputtering problem on the 660 Grizz.
The Dielectric Grease DOES NOT work.I have put dielectric grease on every single electrical plug and the spark plug boot with no luck.I saw someone posting about a outwears prefilter solving the problem.Tried that it does Not Help either.
The thing that stumps me is it doesn't do it everytime,it's a Gremlin that I haven't found yet.
