i'm a former banshee guy (also 400ex) and i can tell you my banshee was a handfull when that power band kicked in, used to send me flying over things at the strangest times and leave me flat when i really wanted the hit, I think what they were looking for is a way to smooth that radical power hit over a broader range, really interesting to see those curves though, you dont get the big improvement on a 2 stroke like you do on the raptor which is apparently "detuned" at the factory with a chump exhaust system

All smoothed the power a tad more......but the point is most manufacturers advise too run no air box lid. This test was done with the lid on and apparantly even the snorkle....the power numbers would have been much higher the 4-5 hp. As noted earlier, one can remove the snorkle and jet up for over 4 hp.

You guys know a lot more about this stuff than I do, but for me I actually like to see the #'s like that because that is how I would be forced to run my Banshee. You can't go on a trail up here without running into a few water crossings. You can't do that with the lid off can you? I wouldn't think, but like I said...I don't know.

gary, thank you for taking the time to ype all of that out... What a pain that must have been.

I'm disapointed that Toomey T5 and CPI inframe pipes weren't in there (or did you get tired of typing )

I also find the stock pipe making 41 HP a littl odd, seems high.

I guess what this really shows is how the pipes extend the usable power more than adding peak HP. Thanks again, Gary.

Nope, he didn't get tired of typing....they really weren't in there. They had a list of the manufactures that didn't wish to compete. I was hoping to see them there when I got my mag, but alass, I was dissapointed again.

That sucks! I dyno'd my banshee after my T5's at 48.6 or something like that (to lazy to look) I guess from stock which I highly doubt isn't much...

Funny thing is when ever I raced a stock shee vs. a T5's she which is only 5 H.P. more I got my doors stomped off... maybe this is one of those 2002 banshee does 72 and a 1987 banshee does 78 things,,,lol
