I want to buy a raptor.. Can you fill me in??

I've got an 02 Raptor that I bought in November of 01.
The biggest complaint I have is the stock swing arm skid plate sucks!!
I put GYT-R swing arm & belly skid plates on immeadiatly.
I was also not impressed with the air filter set up but I fixed that with a Pro Design adaptor plate & K&N filter.
My only parts failure has been the left tie rod end. I bent it after flipping on a sand dune.
I use mine for Sand dunes, Sand drags & trail riding. it works well in all these conditions.
The Raptor also responds well to bolt on upgrades.
I've got a Sparks X6 with stainless head pipe & spark arrestor,Pro Design Pro Flow adaptor with K&N filter & outerwear pre filter & Dynojet kit.
These bolt ons really woke up my Raptor!!
You can see my Raptor on My Web Site check it out & tell me what you think,

Yamaha addressed all the manufacturing/design flaws of the '01 with the '02. Not to say that there isn't room for improvement, but a stock '02 Raptor doesn't have any real blemishes that come to mind. Anything skinnier than a DS is going to be better in the tight trails.
The people to ask for advice on modding a Raptor are Zombie66or and velocityraptor. These guys have put in the $$$ and time on the dyno. But pretty much any exhaust system will wake up a Raptor more than the average four-stroke, as it is pretty choked off in stock trim. A Pro-Flow filter kit is a must, just for reliability if for anything else.
