I was thinking about doing the stock muffler modifacation to my 02 grizz and am planing everything out ahead of time. I have the CD for the grizz and understand it pretty well, accept for a couple of things.

1) It says 0.1- 0.15mm (intake) & 0.15- 0.2mm (exhaust) for the clearence. which side of the scale should i aim for? will one side make it faster or slower?

2) you adjust one at a time right? i take it you can tell the diffrnece between the intake and exhaust ones.

Seriously, your question #3) tells me you should not do anything. Take it to someone who is experienced.

sorry, i ment what is the diffrence between adjsting the valves and jetting. i know jetting is adjusting the air/fuel mixture, what does adjusting the valves do exacly? is it hard to jet it? i personaly don't have the right tools but i can take it to my friends house. does is say how to do it on the cd, i have not found it yet. I don't have to adjust the valves when i do he muffler right, just the jetting?

I agree with these guys. If you can't answer these questions, then you are probably going to due more damage than good.

>>1) It says 0.1- 0.15mm (intake) & 0.15- 0.2mm (exhaust) for the clearance. which side >>of the scale should i aim for? will one side make it faster or slower?
Split the difference! If you can get the clearance within .05 mm, then you should be happy with that. Thats close to RCH...Don’t forget TDC.

>>2) Isn't there more than one valve, it only says how to adjust one. unless the one >>adjustment does them all.

The Grizz 660 has 5 valves. (OH NO!! is 2 intake..and 3 exhaust ..or 3 intake and 2 exhaust...maybe its 2 and 2 with a spare?)

>>3) is adjusting the valves and jetting the same thing?
Valves are in the Engine... Jets are in the carb. Unless its a Jet engine! (Then thats totally different

But all kidding aside. Leave it to the pros. The machine is too expensive to learn or play with. Find a little lawn mower engine and tear that apart.

all kidding aside. go into the cd, and look under the manual. click on the manual, and scroll down to section 3 i think, and find valve adjustments. print out all 3 pages, and make sure you understand them before you even touch it!!! if you feel you understand it completly, then go get you some feeler gaiges, and you will see the gauge numbers on them. if you have read everything thourghly, and you are mechanical at all, you can do this. you dont need to take off the front clip, but you do have to remove the front rack, gas tank, side panels, seat, and get clearance. there are 5 valves, 3 on top, under the flat cover are intake, and 2 in front, under the 2 round covers, are exhaust. you will need 2 pairs of needlnose pliers, and alot of paintance. for under $200.00 a shop will do it for ya, but if you read real good, and take your time, you can do this!!! good luck!!!

You don't have to adjust the valves when jetting. Not sure what size the main jet is, just go up one size per mod (K&N, exhaust etc.). Jetting the carb is quite simple. Hardest part is removing the plastic. Good luck!
