I just got done jetting my 02 Raptor. I put in 160/165 mains and 25 pilots. I also added a K&N filter with the proflo adapter and took the lid off the air box. Turned the screws 2.5 turns out as well.

Now the problem... It isnt running quite ideally. In second gear, unless you really gun it, it sputters pretty good. It seems as if it has almost no torque coming up a hill in second. And to top it all off, when I let off the throttle, it takes 1-2 seconds for the engine to stop reving... almost a throttle lag issue, but the opposite of what you are used to associating "throttle lag" with.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ian

Make sure that you don't have any leaks around the card boots or any where else. That sounds about right for my altitude but we would have to know yours. You need to explain how the bike is runing at a certin throtle position not what gears. That way you will know what you need to adjust in the carb. This is my second raptor and I have rejeted both several times for diff reasons and have never touched the pilots or the air fule screw just the main jets. They have all came out great every time

Usually the throttle position is around 10-50% when it starts sputtering. I tightened both sides of teh carb boots till the top of the clamp came down on the small collet inside of it. Altitude wise I'm at 500 feet or so, give or take 100. Thsi is the altitude I was testing it at yesterday. Where I ride it's either sea level or about 1200 feet depending where Im riding.

Thnaks for your help.

I would try 2 rejet it go to 150/155 and turn airfuel screws 3turn out.Sounds like you are running to big of a jet if you are running a stock pipe.Just did my buddy raptor to what i just said and it runs great.then again i am in NJ.TRY it might work.

I tightened my carb boots down all the way also but the carb boot was tucked under just a slight bit that is why I sugested the carb boots it made mine run like crap. with the lid off and kn filter it will suck alot of air I had that set up on my 01 and I was jeted at 175/180 with a full ct pipe. I just rejeted my bike this weekend. I cut a 4inch by 4 inch hole in the lid left just enough to hold the lid, removed the snorkel and rejeted to 160/165. I did not touch the needle, pilot or screw mixture. It seems to run like a champ No plug check yet but great improvement over stock not as good as the ct kit but need to save the $$$$ right now. If you have went back and checked everything and good I would say if you are using mikuni jets 160/165 that you are running lean, don't sound like it but I would think that you would be just my opinion not an expert.

sexy 660 what does the air screw do? I have never used it at all just asking so I can take advantage. I am having a hard time gettin dialed in this time I think it is the heat and humidity. All the other times that I rejeted it was nice and cool 50 to 60 now it is 85 to 90 just a thought thanks.

Hey Rap air fuel screw it controls your air 2 fuel mixture just say you just jet it your Raptor it is running great except well you let of the gas and it starts 2 pop. That meen you are getting 2 much air so that went you play with the air fuel screws. They say if you do any mons 2 your air box lid you should adjust your air screws 3 to 3 1/2 turns out.So went you do that make sure you turn them in all the way first then turn them out.If done right you well feel a differents in it.
