All you raptor boys better keep a heads up on this 500 "predator" quad being talked so much about in the pooplaris forum. Looks like a pretty mean setup. Its got raptor/z400 plastic, cannondale race ready setup, bomb style fenders, and a blaster front. Maybe a new high-performance contender?? I dont know how to post a site or i would, maybe someone who knows how can post it in this topic.

PREDATOR 500

It is surely a nice LOOKING machine, but I will not speculate as to what potential it has until I see one in action first.

500cc DOHC doesn't mean anything.

I'm with knowsalot, I don't worry about anything until I'm lined up against one.
It's like the Z400's every one said it was a Raptor killer, Well I raced one & there not.
It is a very nice 400 class quad that should have honda squirming thou.
You can read all the mags & internet hype but until you eyeball one you can't know what it'll do.

I agree with you guys 100%. I just wanted to hear some opinions from the yamaha guys. When do you think that whoever it is will release some more info?

It's kind of hard to say anything about this quad. It weighs more than a raptor, which is pretty heavy, and it doesn't even have reverse! It is mainly for racing I hear and when you race I guess you don't use reverse that often, but if you are going to do trail riding with this hog, it's definately a no-no! Imagine getting it stuck in a rut and trying to pull that thing out!

Sorry if i sounded harsh but its just my opinion

I would just get a Raptor or z400 instead of waiting for the Predator, although, it does have a cool name =)

One thing that has surely changed is the choices available in the sport category.

From 1988 to 1998....we only saw a Honda 300EX as a new sport quad. TEN Years of the same choices other than that one "new" sportquad.

In the last 3 years we have gotten:
[1]Yam Raptor660R
[2]Bom DS650
[3]Bom DS650 Baja
[4]Can Cannibal440
[5]Can Speed440
[6]Can Blaze440
[7]Can Moto440
[8]Suz Z400
[9]Kaw KFX400
[10]Hon 400EX
[11]Pol Predator500
[12]AND Bombardier will release another in the next three months
[13]AND Honda has something up it's sleeve for September according to reps

All the new sportquads are a benefit for everyone no matter what they ride. The more choices out there, the better our machines will be.

It will be great if the OEMs begin to update the quads every year like they do the MX bikes. It's a stretch I know....but this is the closest we have had competition since the mid-'80s and then they DID update the sport ATVs as needed.

These are good times indeed.

all i can say is "EITHER YOU THE PREDATOR OR YOU'RE THE PREY". seriously though; it is cool as he11. i like it. it's been 3 years for someone to try and catch up to our raptors. maybe this is it; but i gotta see it first. it looks like it is lightly constucted; but then a bomb does too. what's really gonna suck is if it is beating up z400s already. it will be like bomb's reoccuring raptor nightmare all over again.

yeah, "IT LOOKS COOL".....but lets see it in the sand and on the dirt. It's all about performance and price. If it's too high like the freakin cannondale moto 440, then "OH WELL"...hmm. let's see. just cut out a large demigraphic buying market all-together.

That's what is so great about the Raptor. The average dude like myself "could get one". I assume I am NOT the only one that would have a hard time spending 14,000 + for the moto 440, if I am then, that's my FAULT!!!
