madhandlez, I think that in california that's what they are doing to deploy the "BAN" of two-stokes from being ridden in certain areas.

I guess the bottom line if you have a place to ride, RIDE!. But I still think that 4 strokes will become he "switch-over" method, and that some how we will survive.

Madhandlez,

Here in California they have registration stickers that go on your quad. One type is agreen sticker and one type is a red sticker. Most all if not all 2 strokes are issued a red sticker. Most but not all 4 strokes are issued a green sticker. If you buy a California model Raptor you will get a green sticker. If you buy an out of state or 49 state model you will get a red sticker. Its a smog issue here in California. The general rule for public land use is from May 1st-Sept 30th no red stickers allowed. Green stickers can ride any time they want. Thats what red and green stickers are. And right now its just in California.

I hate to sound stupid, but exactly what is different on the cali Raptors? Does Yamaha make these changes? Or a Cali Dealership? I have alot more questions I'd like to ask on this matter, but I gotta go race. Later!

I'm told the difference is in the CDI box. Retarding the timing a bit more or the opposite or somthing. Suppose to help with the emissions. The Cali models are in the 33-35 hp range and the 49 states are rumored to be in the 35-37 hp range.

is this 2006 ban just for cali? if so, should someone out in kentucky worry? no one seems to care how much you pollute here.

Well, you should worry about how much pollution is being put out, trust me. But they are going about it wrong. Its not the 2 stroke motorcycles that are causing all this pollution. Once again the government is attacking the wrong guy.
