Is there a significant difference for your average user ( not hardcore racer ) in pistons for the Raptor? Is the Wiseco 11:1 102mm of good quality or am I better off buying the JE ?? Is it really worth double the money? I want a relatively inexpensive 686 and it seems the Wiseco/Hotcam/sparks springs is the cheapest route. I dont need a huge boost in power so I'm skimping on the port work for now.

I've heard good things about Pro-X (pronounced pro-cross),but they run a little higher,my Wiseco has treated me fine so far,and the price is good. If you found a combo you like,go with it,but if you can find a shop to do the porting while you have it apart,I would recommend it,I don't know about the Raptor, but my Wolverine (and Warrior) head had a lot of extra metal in the way of making max flow, and I did notice it revs a lot better without the restrictions of the old head.

I'm not sure but I think the pro-x is a cast piston and the JE is forged not sure about the wiseco.Forged is much better IMO.

Where can you get info on Hot Cams? I am going to do the same thing as you but with port work. A friend of mine and I are going to do all the boring for free, so its only going to cost me parts and for the head work if we decide not to do that. I haven't looked at the Hot Cams yet but have been hearing about them alot lately.

I believe it was atvaddiction.com that has the hotcams. Minimal info is available but they're relatively inexpensive with no core charges.

NIX Pro-X is the better piston. This could go on for days. Ford/Chevy, Honda/Kaw, Toyota,Nissan. You should use what works best for you. But in my 15years of using pistons in motocross bikes, the Pro-X gave best service.

Thanks for the help. I'll check it out. Raptor720 has alot of knowledge about pistons, actualy everything, you should try giving him a PM about which one to use.
