Sorry to hear about that. I think we should dig a big hole and fill it with the 01 trannies and whoever is in control of the recalls at Yammy. Next one of us take his place and get them all fixed right.J/K

Please if that guy comes up missing no one take this post serious.

That makes me sick to hear garyc660R Raptor lost 2nd gear.

I always thought as long as his was going mine would be fine.

I have never had no sign of trans trouble. I keep this machine maintained.

I always said if garyc660R trans went out mine would be sure to follow.

Dammit garyc660r. I am not sure what to do now. My gear ratios suit me fine.

1. Just wait till it goes.
2. Go ahead and put new gears in. Wrong time of the year now.
3. wait another year for the 03 Raptor.

mine broke 2nd gear also and locked up after it did it. Took it to the dealer and had 02 gears put in. Ended up costing me 700 bucks and 10 weeks of riding because of back ordered parts. Got the thing back and the jug bolts came lose after about 3 hours of riding and started to leak oil from around the jug and making a sound like a spun bering. Tore the moter down and the pistion was junk from so much movement. When back to the dealer to show them the parts and they are going good for it but head gaskets are on back order now!!!!!!! ANOTHER 2 WEEKS OF NO RIDING. Dealer says if I wouldn't have done all of the mods to it that this would have NEVER happened! Yamaha needs take care of there costomers better or they will be seeing more and more 400ex's and z400's than Raptors! GOOD LUCK GaryC

Lafngas
Tell your dealer he is full of crap of the mod that you put in.
Sound like the mechanic they have didn't do the job very well putting things back together!!

Are they paying it? I wouldn't......!!!!

Let us know.....

Thats what my primary concern is.....possibly more damage......may get the engine off the frame today and dig in. Would sure like to find out exactly what the problem is.
Chet, it's definately the wrong time of the year to down a mechanically fine machine.....don't think I could do it....lol. Mine has always been well maintained.....no missed shifts.....been riding for 20 years with no transmission failures until now.

I don't think it matters....but my serial number is in the 1640's....I'll have to check it if anyone wants the exact number. Got mine in mid Sept. of 2000.
