Has anyone every tried Taller Haulers on the quad? I think that they might be a little more paddle than I need but what if you ran like a 7 paddle?

I have tried them, and tested the Edge tires. I went with the Edge tires, I use the 8 paddle and they are awesome! A group of us went out to the dunes and tested them against the sand skate II's and boy the Edge tires dug more sand than the sand skates. So after that day, everyone in the group were checking out the Edge paddls.

I tried some 22-11-8 8 paddle taller haulers on my 330R. I noticed that the bike launched a lot harder. But I also noticed that when I shifted into the higher gears my bike wouldn't pull the gear. I believe that for a 100 yard dash, taller haulers would be great. They should get the same hook-up regaurdless of track conditions. The only bikes I see using the taller haulers are modified quads with street bike engines. All the quick bikes like Banshees run a ultra buff 9 through 12 paddle.

I run a paddla brat 9 paddle competition cut tire on my turbo charged raptor. It hooks up ok but not as well as a hauler. Pic

The consensus seems to be that the 22" Hauler or Extreme Haulers work the best on piped to moded out Raptors.

I ran a set of 10 paddle 22x11x10 haulers & I could tell that it was too much tire for a piped & jetted Raptor. It jumped out of the hole great but when I shifted into 3rd (at the sand drags) I could definatly feel it was pulling down the revs. I also tried vilnrks tires & they worked good but didn't have the hook of the Haulers. But I now have 8 paddle 22x11x10 Extreme haulers on 9" wide douglass .160s, The launch is as good as the 10 paddles (or close enough that I can't tell the diffrence) But I can pull them with no problem.

Unless your making monster HP numbers or gear way down I wouldn't recomend any thing bigger.

Ok MOOSE,

More questions.

What are your thoughts with using the Extreme Haulers (22x11x10, 8 paddle) for a 70+ HP Raptor?

Do you think more paddles will be needed? (9 or 10)

How about durabilty (paddle and puncture resistance)?

Where do you find these tires and what's an approximate cost?

Thanks for all the help MOOSE, appreciate it!

swytak Rocky Mountain Atv has them in stock for $94-$84. The size range from a 20-10-10-8 to a 21-10-10-10. They should be able to get 22s' but they didn't list them. They have kevlar reinforcing so they should be stronger than the regular haulers. Hope this helps.

Anytime. I guess you could say that I am in search of the perfect paddle. I have some sharks and was disapointed with them. I get better drag times with my stockers. The Sharks get good traction and turn well but... One other thing I am going to change is wheels. When I got these I didn't really know any better, these are my 1st set, and I got .125. Now they have more bends in them than the Mississippi river. I have narrowed it down to the extremes, stagger cut brats, or the mini desert trax. When I go to the sand I don't have to worry about punctures so that helps a little, but I don't want a tire that is going to lose paddles either.

SWY, I think the durability & puncture resistance is very good.
I was going to order the Kevlar paddles but the guy I talked to at Skat-Trak said that you only need them if you have to ride on pavement a long ways to get to the sand or the sand is rocky or has a lot of dirt in it.

I have heard of some people throwing paddles but I believe that was a bad batch.
I have well over 150 drag passes & many dune hours on my Extreme Haulers with no problems.

With 70+ Hp the 10 paddles will probably work well. I ran a set of regular 10 paddle haulers with around 45 HP & they were a bit much. I had to keep the engine in a lower gear in the dunes but with 70+ HP you shouldn't have a problem.

The best prices I've seen were at Jims Sand Toys, They're just outside the gate at Little Sahara OK. You can get their phone number from the web site.

They had a set of 8 paddle 22x11x10 Extreme Haulers on 8" wide Douglass .160 for around $245. I never priced the 10 paddles but I'd guess they're about $10~$15 more each.
