Hey Andrewtheman-
How big are you? Just another consideration. I'm 6' 4", and so the Z and EX's are too small. The Raptor fits me good. I feel right at home on her. Just something to look at. As far as sliding at 35-40, either burn some rubber off the stock tires, or replace them. The first half dozen times I had mine out, is was like I was riding around on fly paper. I actually got out on some pavement for about 30 miles, and since then, I can be flying down a logging road at 50, and kick the backend out pretty easy. Still have plenty of traction for the tight woods trails I ride on. In my opinion, you will need to do some work to the stock Raptor for it to do good on an MX track. As you already know, it's 90% rider anyway. Get whichever one feels the best to you.
Hey, btw, I'm not far from you. I live in Auburn. Whichever one you get, there are some great trails around here.

oh really!? auburn only like an hour and a half from here huh?? i usually have to drive all the way to kingsvale to go riding(its about 20minutes or so from auburn) i thought auburn was just like foothills and small stuff. you ever hear of argile park??(sp?) its a motocross track down in my town very nice, privately owned and you can ride for like 5-10 bucks for as long as you'd like.well one of these days ill have PM you and get directions to a few of those trail areas
anyways, im 6'2 according to my license, but last time i went to the ER they said i was 6'3 or so anyways im 190lb....ive sat on a z400, it isnt too bad for me, but ill have to do some test riding
also ya i know it is 90% the rider, but to me all i need to find out is if the thing is hard to slide with decent tires...i have an awkward style of cornering for just about everything from 4wheelers to video games(occasionally) where i have to slide that back end out or i cant turn correctly....luckly that never transfered into driving a car normally
