im currently deciding between a raptor or a ktx400(the kawa z400) and im looking for a bike that i could hit the front brake and slide around a corner at like 35-40mph or more. now i know these bikes have about the same power so im not concerned by that since this wil be more of a bike to compete with my friends. one has a z400, so if i go ktx it'll be a battle of skill. and the other is planning on an 80-150cc dirtbike(he'lll never catchup)

so just curious, how hard is it to make a raptor slide a corner at high speeds

(no biosed opinions or opinions relating to power please)

it all depends on the rider. you can get any quad to slide with the right rider and tires. tires are probabaly more of a factor.

it sounds like you've already made up your mind though. any experienced rider can compensate for handling with body English. as far as not mentioning power...whats the point. You can make any quad handle better. but, you can only squeeze so may ponies out of an engine. no replacement for displacement.

yes im well aware of that, but i dont wanna blow a ton of cash just to keep up with my friends z400 on the motocros track(ours is extreme tight, designed for dirt bikes so passing isnt easy and everyother corner is a hairpin turn

by just adding works shocks would i have close to the handling the z400 has?? i know how to shift my body weight and all that(riding utilities at 30 on trails and riding atcs at 15 on trails teaches you this quickly or you get hurt quickly)

i can't expand on a stock raptor. i've been riding my 01 raptor modded for mx the day i bought it. no problems overtaking quads that supposedly handle better...i only lose to better riders not quads.

it seems to me, if your racing on a tight track with limited passing opportunities. i'd want the quad thats gonna get me the holeshot.

i don't think you need shocks as much as wheel spacers and tires to ease the slides for a raptor.

well the holeshot would matter if it was actually racing, you pay 5 bucks they let you in, they dont host any events, its just a place where a couple friends can go and race your friends...

well i guess ill have to take a ride down to my kawa/yam dealership and ride both quads an see what i want

You were saying you ride a tight track and passing was difficult. Go with the raptor and pass your worries of passing on to the guy with the z400.

yes, but thats the thing, whees the fun on a couse if its punch and go then thats it?? i could care les about the holeshot unless im racing in an amatuer class to get some extra cash. i just want sumin that can handle with him easily, have the low end power to get with him and all that(sheesh, this would be much simpler if he had a 400ex, id be the best off either way)

There is always the Cannondales. Holeshot winner in several major races, Designed for motocross. If you get the hole shot and can handle than your buds won't be able to pass you. Try them before you buy them.

Why is Vacaville?

If you don't care about power and you want a bike that handles well get yourself a 400ex.
