Do you know you have to preregistration for the permit to camp out on the dune? Well they came up with a lame rule that they are going to allow no more then (Ithink ) about 375 permit.
Here the site you need to check it out. http://presys.com/c/r/crashed/register.html
Alot of peoples don't know about this...... Boy they are going to be in shock if they can't get a permit and camp out in the dune.
I hope I got the permit but won't know sometime next week or so.

They do check but if you get in trouble with the ranger then they might do the sound check and see if your bike does pass the sound test or not.
Since the events have alot of peoples there and they can't get all the peoples who are over the limit.
I have been there for the last 3 yrs. It have been fun to go there.....

Mark (MR45AUTO):
When I was down there last week, two different sound check guys looked at us ride past him(Piped raptor, and piped 400ex) They didn't even think twice about stopping to check us. One (the state cop) even stopped by later and asked how come we weren't out burning up more gas. He looked at our bikes, and obviously knew that we wouldn't pass, but he just said have a nice weekend, and went on his way. The sound guys seemed to be pretty cool, and they only checked the guys that were riding around like A$$E$ (going fast in campground, or down the paved sections of road doing wheelies, etc...). You've heard my bike, and it definitely wouldn't pass, so I don't think you've got anything to worry about, as long as you take it easy going to and from the dunes. One interesting side note is that the state cop has a new raptor (blue) for catching people that run from him.

chad400ex--I was south of Winchester last week (Horsfall Beach) and noticed the forest service guys also had a new Raptor sitting in the truck--kinda blew me away! The soundcheck guys don't seem to be real big on stopping people unless they are riding reckless or ripping around in the parking lot....especially in a big event like Sandfest.

They can't check everyone, besides that if there going to have Banshee Drag races, none of those bikes would ever pass the DB check being full blown drag racers.
I here last year that there were thousands of people who showed up, even some from California, and there was like an hour long wait just to get in. Thats how bad the traffic was coming and going.

Yes I did however it doesn't matter, my friends parent's live in the trailer park next to the dunes and according to him all you have to do is ride across the street to the dunes, there house backs up to the dunes, so well be camping out on there property or inside there house, other wise I would be a little nervious about the permit thing.
