bad660r - I've run my Cannondale thru OIR (Ozark International Dragstrip) in Rogersville, MO... It's 100% bone stock - I weigh about 195 right now.

I've run it thru 4 times - my best 1/8th mile is 9.4765 @ 68.19mph, it seems pretty consistent - but I've been wheelie'ing off the line, so I know I can improve it a bit. Your 60' time is about .2 faster than mine, and that's probably the difference. I'd like to try with a wheelie bar...

It has been running 15.4 thru the 1/4 - but I run out of top speed long before then.

Just thought you'd like to hear someone else's results from not too far away. BTW, I've seen a lot of stock Banshees go thru at 15.6-15.8 in the 1/4, haven't seen their 1/8 numbers.

I've also run my cross country 400EX thru about 3 times, it's best 1/8th mile time was 9.5994 @ 66.86mph, getting 15.6356 in the 1/4 - it's tall geared right now for the 1/8. I think I could actually beat the Cannondale with it with a gearing change and more runs, I was improving on it every run (by about .1 all 3 times).

Can't wait to change pipe, mapping, and play with the gearing on the cannondale and see what it'll do....

interesting thread. Anyone have any 0-60 times?

1986atc250r, your 400ex must be modified. For an air cooled 400, they fly! especially when modified right.

Yes, the 400 is modified. It's also heavy since it's mainly an XC racer with 6ply tires, heavy wheels, full skids, heavily gussetted frame, chromoly swingarm, etc... I think if I were to reduce the weight to the Cannondale's level, it would be a very interesting race.

The engine is punched out to 416cc with a lightened JE 10.8:1 piston, a GT Thunder cam (their new one), an FCR39mm carb, modified airbox, mild porting and chamber polishing, and a Sparks X-4 pipe. I run 16/38 gearing, which is one tooth taller on the front. Top speed is in the upper 70's with this gearing and tire combo.

Sounds like you've obviously done a lot of work to it - what kind of mods you running on that thing?

bad660R,

Try the 14 tooth sprocket, I would bet money you will pick up too.

I don't know if I can explain why but I think its because the Raptor has as much
torque as it does HP. and you are taking more advantage of it. I have tried this many
times and am now running the 14 all the time. It may feel ( sound ) slower at times
but when you get beside another Raptor you will see its not! I ride with 3 other
Raptors often so this isn't just my opinion but just how it works. Still don't really
understand it.

Being a drag racer too and often staying up a saturday night till 12:00 after a day of
racing 1/4 mile to change from 4.10 to 4.56 so I can run better times in the 1/8 on
sunday I had a hard time believing it too !! So hopefully this helps convince you.

Fendercover,

we ride deepwater more than anywhere because it's close, and a lot of fun. My parents have a place in Lone Jack we go to also. It 15 acres, but still a fun place to ride. We have 1 warrior that almost always rides with us. He's always the one pulling us out when we get in over our heads. He ran it out there on last Thursday also. He hit 50MPH, and I don't remember the ET.

1986atc250r,

I would have wheelied real bad without the bar. It was pretty easy to make if you have the right tools. I think 9.60s would be doable without it though. I may be taking my stang down to rogerville sometime. I heard it a great track. KCIR is kind of lacking these days.

kingron,
That what I was thinking!

dsmike,
Wow! That's fast!

2strokeDiehard, and velocityraptor,

I hate the stock gearing bad, and can't imagine higher gearing. I wouldn't mind spending $7 on a cheapy 14 tooth to try it though. I may buy an 11, and a 14 to play around with. Thanks for the tips!
