They allow ATVs on Thursday nights now. I made almost 20 passes. I got it down to 9.30 at 97.88MPH being the best pass. It stayed in the 9.30-9.38 range pretty good. This was with a wheelie bar. I could leave on the track on the rev limiter with the wheelie bar. The bike pulled a 1.91 60' time. I was pretty impressed with it. That's about what a 14.5 second car runs in the 1/8 mile. Not too bad for a stock bike with a pipe, jetting, and filter. My buddies modded Banshees were only getting 9.02, and 9.15 as there best times. They were pulling down 71, and 74 MPH though. The bike that pulled 74MPH had the clutch go out right after that run. It would have made it into the 8s for sure with a few more runs.

Okay.....? Help me understand this. I know that typically lower gearing helps move a car faster through the 1/4 mile. I have lots of experience with that. It would seem to me that lower gearing on the quad would also get it through the gears quicker, and therefor make it faster. But......this is the first time I've ever raced it on the strip. I would think that it would make the gears much longer, and harder to pull through them. How does it help? I'm willing to try it, but would like some reasoning here.

Im no drag racer but it would seem better is maybe if you could start in second and end in 4th with a 14t or 15t? you would be doing away with 2 shifts?
Otherwise going down to an 11t and using all of 5th may be better?
I dunno..Im sure we'll find out shortly though. lots of draggers in here

The idea is to be right at the power peak in high gear as you go through the traps. Given that, you should go to an 11 tooth countershaft sprocket and see if that helps. If it is a little much and your speed falls off. then go back to a 12 and go up a tooth or two on the axle. Keep playing with it until you have it at its best. You will know when you have too short a gear when your time has stabilized but your speed through the traps is falling off.
