I am getting a 12 tooth sproket for my raptor, and was wondering if there is anything I should know. Does the shifting linkage have to come apart? and I turn the nut counter clockwise, right? those left handed threads messed me up on other machines, and want to make sure I do it right. thanks.

You should loosen the shift linkage from the shaft on the motor. Take the sprocket cover off and then have someone hold on the rear brake while you use a 32mm socket and 3/4 drive ratchet to break it loose. And don't forget to loosen up the chain adjustment too. Hope your chain isn't stretched too much either. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Make sure you solidly bend the tabs of the lock washer over the nut. Was sitting on the line for my first moto on sunday and the guy next to me pointed under my quad. there was a huge puddle of oil. Those tabs had straighten and the nut holding my sprocket had loosed so much that the sprocket had worked its way out on the counter shaft. There is like a half inch aluminum bearing behind the sprocket that also seals the countershaft and the case. I lost a full quart of oil. Thank god the guy noticed. He saved me thousands! Just something to pay a few extra seconds to, I almost learned the hardway.
