ATV Magazine picked the 2000 Yamaha Kodiak as their "ATV of the Year". Not bad Yamaha.

Outlast the Kodiak? Since this is its first production year isn't it a little premature to say the foutrax will outlast the Kodiak? I know my Kodiak seems very well built. The fit and finish is top notch. I'm sure time will tell but I sure doen't see any shortcoming with the Kodiaks longevity. As for a heads up comparson between these two quads the advantage definately goes to the Kodiak. Liquid cooling, high & low range automatic with park, great suspension, 2 or 4wd, disc brakes front & rear, gas guage, etc... I don't really see any comparison.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree. The Kodiak is a good quad and it's a lil early to test reliability, although Honda has a good reputation for it. Wonder what they'll say about the rubicon.

I've owned both Yamaha and Honda products and they both were well built. The Yamaha's I had were more user friendly such as being able to start in any gear. I personally don't want a quad that you have to ride around in 4x4 - 24/7. As far as the new Kodiak's won't last, that's a pretty weak comment seeing as it's atv of the year and beat a Honda 450es in a Dirt Wheels shootout in every category. My Yamaha's have always been reliable as was my 98 Honda atv.
