I think 2 small carbs have more velocity than 1 large carb, that means more low end & more precise fuel metering.

Moose is right. Small carbs keep a higher velocity because they keep more vacuum. At WOT the two carbs flow as much as a very large one. Best of both worlds.

My question: A 2 carb setup is supposed to help low end and topend. Now look at a ad for a single carb setup for a banshee. They claim that it adds lowend and topend (has nothing to do with 2/4 stroke). Funny huh?

Um...air flow is air flow, twin carbs are fine on the banshee and raptor, the raptor may breath slightly different from one intake valve to the other, so the extra carb may not be a waste, it's just a bit more tunable than a single. The banshee's twin carb is much more important, an entire cylinder may not be quite the same as the other( this is more pesky on two strokes too. ) Polaris's single carb twin (sp700)is kind of half arsed, the only good thing about it is, constant high air flow through the single carb, but if one cylynder is off a bit it's not going to be helped untill a rebuild.

edit added: The grizz's single phat carb seems to do pretty good too, If I'm not mistaken it has a different cam and still produces near raptor HP out of the single carb, (with the same cam they'd probably be spot on HP, but the raptor would still rev faster do to lighter tranny components, and twin carbs getting to work faster.)

Not to disagree with everyone but I inquired about the Edelbrock set-up a few months back and was told just the oppisite. I can't remember who it came from but I think it was a good source. This is the reason I ruled them out for me, I wanted the gain in the top not the bottom.

I think also you will atomize the fuel better with 2 smaller carbs as apposed to 1 big one.
