I got my hands on a 95 Blaster. This thing is in very good condition. The only problem is that is has been sitting for 3 years. What do I need to go throught to make sure this thing will not lock up on me when I get ready to start it? Also, if it needs a rebuild. How hard is it to do a top end rebuild on a 2 stroke? I have done 4 strokes, but this is my first 2 stroke. Thanks.

Change crankcase oil. Remove carb & clean jets. Pour a capfull of two-stroke oil in spark plug hole & turn over without plug in. Replace gas. Replace plug & fire that $u(ker up.
Engine is easy to rebuild. Tear it down. Replace piston & ring or rings, new gasket set, check cylinder, & put it back together. Check your reed petals. It is a good idea to replace them!

Well... the fuel system ususally is most common area to have a problem. Check the gas tank, is there any gas left? If so dump-it. Does the tank smell like varnish rather than gas? If so drain it and rinse it till clean. Also check the petcock, if it's full of crud, clean it and dre-install it. Check the carb next. Loosen the drain screw, does gas come out? Does it look clean and not smell of varnish? If so, disasemble the carb, clean it and re-asemble. Remove the sparkplug add a small amount of oil and put the plug back. Also if it still has the oil injection system and you remove the carb you'll have to re-prime the oil injection system. Standard manuals, possibly the owners manual will explain that. Don't forge to also change the oil. Personnally if it were my ATV, I'd remove the carb and do a thourough cleaning irregardless of smell or no smell.

You,ve already been told. Buy a compression tester and check the pressure. Rebuilding is easy. If you know how to turn a wrench you can do this.
