Who would win a Blaster with the CT 240 kit with 40Hp or a 400 Ex with a Pipe which only add 1 maby 2 hp leaving you at 29 or so. I think the Blaster would win by a lot cause it has 10 more horse and is 50 pounds lighter. And if you want the Blaster more stable you can still buy swingarms, bigger axles, and new a-arms and still be cheaper then the 400EX.

My cousin has the same CT 240 kit on his 2001 Blaster and I beat him on my EX by about 6-8 quadlenghs in a race that was about 200 yards. After that we switched quads and we got the same results. Dont get me wrong though, his Blaster is quick. If I just had a pipe and air filter, he problaby would have won or it would have been closer.

Intersting. Hey not that i don't beleive you but i was just wondering how you got it to have so much horse when a pipe only adds one or 2 horse. Cause from my experience when you buy a big pipe and porting kit the pipe adds half the hp meaning your doing good to get 5hp giving it 32hp which still isn't 40 plus the 50pound blaster weight advantage. Maby i'm wrong and he just does a really good port job but i don't understand how you could get your 400EX to have more hp power then that blaster and have a better power to weight ratio. However there are other factors like what tires did both of you have, and gearing. Cause the stock balloon tires on a blaster aren't that great. Also jetting must be correct. Was that the only mod he had on his blaster what about tires or extentions no that the extentions give you more power just more stability. Just wondering Any one else going to say anything?

I am not really sure about the exact horsepower numbers, but by reading DirtWheels, an FMF Powercore 4 pipe and a K&N air filter with correct jetting should give you about 4-6 HP. The porting gave me a lot more power, but I dont know about exact HP. The tires he had were Maxxis Razrs(new). I was running Holeshot XC's. We both have stock gearing and he also has a +1 Durablue axle.

OK i guess that's beleiveable i was just going by the fmf dyno charts on thier website and it only said 1hp or 2hp increase. It would be interesting tho to see who whoud win without the porting and polish. Thanks agian for the info HiSpeed and is your cousin on this forum. Any one else have an opinion.
