Raptor setup for harescrambles?
#1
I have never raced before. I have owned my Raptor for about four months and am getting good at riding trails, jumps, and everything but wheelies. I have some places to ride and practice. I want to do some racing and figured harescrambles would be better for a rider like myself? I also figured it would be a cheaper setup for a Raptor? I am also 27 years old and weigh 200 lbs. I work out so it's not fat, can I still be competitive against younger lighter riders? I would appreciate a serious response.

Hey man, harescrambles are a great choice. I also have a Raptor and have been racing harescrambles/cross-country for about 4 years now. The setup can go as far as you check book is deep. I know of many people who have raced their Raptor bone stock and done fairly well. My raptor has: HMF Full System exhaust, Pro-Flo Foam filter, Maxxis Razr tires, Champion Beadlocks, ELKA triple rate front shocks, AC nerfs, bumpers, and skids, and Renthal bars. The options are up to you but I would get a good set of tires first, Razr's are great, and then go from there. I also see that you live in Ohio, will you be racing AMA or CRA. I race CRA and find the races wonderful. The atmosphere is also very nice and you will meet many great people and find friends in no time. This is just my opinions.

Hey 660bigdaddy,
Yes the CRA has a website, it is www.racecra.org. There isn't much except points, schedules, and track maps, but it should give you a good bit of information. Also our AMA district is District 12, and can be reached at www.d12ama.com
