Elka rear shocks
#1
For those of you who purchased early Elka rear shocks, you should make sure that the top cap (anodized top piece) that screws onto the shock body has a retaining nut against it. If not, the shock body can unscrew from the cap and cause you a major shock blowout. I got my newly rebuilt one back and noticed that it has a retaining nut that was not on the last one.
I thought I blew a double jump months ago since I severely cased on the landing. As it turns out, the shock came apart thus I landed without shock resistance. I know it unscrewed because there was virtually no thread damage to the shock.
It is worth a look. I would call Elka if you don't have this retaining nut. I have been recovering now for about 8 weeks. I have a feeling I won't be 100% for another 4-6 months.
