There is a certain amount of play in the jet needles..not a problem. You might check them to make certain the circlips haven't slipped of allowing one or the other needle to fall into the seat.
Have you made certain you have no kink or blockage in your gas cap breather hose. I had that happen once and it gave me the same problem...It started & ran a distance & quit altogether. I found that the hose was pinched almost closed

When you had your carbs off did you check your boots (the ones between the carbs & heads) closely? You may have a ripped carb boot. That would explain why it seemed hot because a tear in the boots will make it run lean. Run your fingers in them & pull & strech them, it may be a small tear but it's enough to cause trouble.

Hot shoe you may have something there, I know the hose isnt kinked or anything but maybe the cap is bad.. cuase it definitely acts like its not getting ANY fuel when it happens. Then when it idles down it fires back up cause it gets some? hmm. thanks

moose I didnt check the carb boots, will do that next too, I just had it all apart too. dang.

If you have access to compressed, air blow thru the hose and then remove the hose and blow thru the breather hole in the cap.

I had the same problem on one of my Raptors. Moose is right on. Check the boots. I had to run with choke wide open just to get back home.

if your into street bikes check out these guys www.route125.com I was riding along and stopped to take a break, I heard these guys from about 100 yards away but couldnt see em. I thought it must have been a motorcycle poker run... I came out of the woods and watched the show, Evil Kneivil has nothing on these guys.
