I hope that they would slap that YZ400/420 engine into a wolverine chasis and add 2wd/4wd option... that would be up there with the 2 polaris scramblers. If it comes out... It's mine for good =)

2WD/4WD option is already out. It's Called the KODIAK! They are going to put out a 2WD sport machine to compete with Bombardier/Honda/Cannondale etc...
I just hope it's 4 stroke, atleast 400+cc, and liquid cooled would be nice for me here in South Florida.

Since the Banshee engine is based on the RZ350 engine, lets just dream a little and wish for another 2-stroke, but this time based on the RZ350's big brother, the RZ500. That would be cool, a 500cc quad cylinder quad!

Mudmann, I will be right behind you in line to put my deposit on a new Yamaha if it is like the ATV you just described.

I think it's going to be the YZ 400/426 motor. Please Yamaha, sport quads CAN have a reverse gear. If they give us a reverse gear I for one will be selling my 400EX very quickly and getting a YZ.

It would be really cool if Yamaha offered air or liquid cooling for thier new quad. Also i think the 4-stroke is the only way to go. Not to beat up on the banshee but its time we got somethin' new in the sport quad area. The warrior has been out for 10 years and is fairly unchanged even longer with the banshee. And the Blaster well who really cares about the blaster? i don't! But thats just my idea.

Yeah in the May 2000 issue of DirtWheels they announce that Yamaha is making a new high-performance quad and that they are thinking of using the YZ400, YZ426 or make a brand new 600cc motor.

it is the yz400/426 engine put into a warrior frame. that is a big mistake. they need to make a good frame too handle this new beast.

The motor will be a 426. It should be out later this year (fall). In fact, some of the aftermarket companies already have parts complete with part numbers all set to go.

I agree with Bruce. The main reason I decided to not buy a 400EX was because it did not a reverse. Besides, I can't imagine anyone not buying a sport quad because it HAD reverse.
