good deal?

hey guys i am in the market for a new quad. right now my blaster is having to many problems to deal with and i am fed up. my parents though will not let me go new now since im 12 months from gettin a car so i will have to wait till then to get a better quad and go all out. so ive decided to get another blaster that is newer and in better shape. recently looking through the want and press i have found this....
2001 BLASTER Runs great, original owner, great starter, bike just tuned, new brakes, decals, nerf bars, skid plates, FMF exhaust with silencer. Must See! $2400 obo.
I called the guy and it was not sold yet. he said it runs fine and has only 20 hours on it(dont know if i should believe that), and when i asked more about how it runs hes like saying how hed show me at the track how it runs so i am kind of weary if it was beat . he also said it has the same pistons and all that from when he bought it new. and he said the back brakes dont work but the fronts do. also he noted that thier are new plastics on the machine. i know im a kid and i know what other people do to the quads that are my age so i dont know if i should go check it out(its about 40 min away) or should i stear clear and find another. should i call the guy back up and find more info on the quad or what? i know this is kind of long and probably makes no sense but i hope you understand, thanks for the help.

well the fact that the ad said new brakes and then you called him and he said the back brakes don't work who knows what other BS he put in that ad.
Why would you want another blaster? If I were you I would want to upgrade!

i would like to go for a bigger, faster, better suspensioned quad but right now i cant i just want a quad that i can take through the trails and stuff. a brand new quad will have to wait a year. yea that made me think twice when it said new brakes but the backs dont work. some more people please post!

OK, Heres my 2 cents: I work for a dealer, and my gut tells me to stay away from that bike. If it only has 20 hours, theres no way it should need new plastics, etc. If I were you I would take the $$$$ I was going to use and redo the bike I had!

Man, for another $600 you could buy a brand new Blaster so I can't see getting one that is 2 years old for that much. Especially if the whole idea sounds a little fishy (which it does).
I'd save up for the extra cash needed to buy a brand new one and get a 2003 which looks a lot better than the other ones and also has updated disc brakes.
I know you specifically said that you can't go new, but there must be something you can do to come up with $600. If you are still in school there still enough summer left to earn some cash.
Also, $2400 just sounds like a lot for that quad anyway...I was looking in the paper recently and I saw a 2001 Blaster in there for $1800. I remember back a while ago I got a Blaster that was only a year old and I got it for $1650.
However, it's your money and your decision.
