eiger or a big bear??
#1
I am wondering if the suzuki eiger or the yamaha big bear would be the better choice?? I noticed the big bear doesn't come with skid plates stock and the eiger does but I haven't seen any suzuki extended 3 or 4 year warranty that I can buy like yamaha and honda offers??? Also if you buy a suzuki do you have to do there financing to get a warn winch for $70?? someone please help

They are both good quads and Suzuki does offer a warranty for $495.00 for 4 yrs. Mine has been a good bike so far and really like it. Keep in mind it just won the shootout in ATV action of which the B Bear was in. The Eiger was the fastest bike in it's class and more refined. The B Bear is a better bike now also w/ the in and out 4x4 but I like the simplicity of the cable operated 4x4 switch of the Eiger. I got mine for $4950.00 with a free helmet. I think a Big Bear would be more so the Eiger is an excellent value and sportier as well.

The Big Bear is a proven machine and time tested. Not fast but a blast to ride. The Eiger is a new design and is not a proven machine. From what I read it is very nice machine. Either machine would be fun. I think for power and slower riding the Big Bear and for more faste paced riding the Eiger.

That was one gripe about the B Bear in the shootout is that it was exposed underneath. I'm sure there is aftermarket available though. One thing about the big bear is that it does not have much top end. When I rode a buddies 01 model, I kept looking for a 6th gear but there was none. It's more of a workhorse. Also, one major feature that the Eiger has that the Bear does NOT is low range. Low is extremely useful for working, towing and crawling down extreme inclines. The bear has a low 1st gear though, but that means a lower top speed as well. I think the Eiger will turn out to be a solid, reliable quad as is the Bear.

I keep seeing people asking about the eiger 400 automatic 4x4 and I have alot of seat time on one (my uncles) and there are alot of things good and bad from what I can see.
bad... the shift linkage is crap and some of the linkage pieces are actually plastic. He has had to have to linkage fixed 2 times now and its still not shifting correctly. you have to rock it just to be able to force it into gear and thats on flat ground. the front plastic is cracked in 2 places and its never been rolled. Its just bumped into things. I'm not talking small cracks these are over 5 inches. Of course we all know about the tires being crap but thats easily fixed.
good... the power is there its got plenty of it. Its a fun ride for a utility bike and the suspension really soaks up the bumps.
If I had the money for a quad in this class I'd take the prairie 360. I have alot of seat time on it too and it has everything the eiger has besides the speedo. I prairie has something the eiger doesn't have and thats front lockers which may be important to some people.
yamaha makes a good quad too so any of those choices will probably make you a happy person.
