Hi All-

The wife is 5' 7" and weighs about 150lbs. I am on a budget, and seriously looking at getting 03' blaster for her. What do you think? We will ride mostly trails. She has put plenty of time on the raptor to have experience on with a manual clutch. Will she be disappointed with the power after riding the raptor? I hear they are a cool little bike, that handle good, and that 195cc 2 stroke gets up a goes. What do you all think? Anything else in that price range I should be looking at?

Blasters are great bang for the buck, but I don't think it's a good choice for your wife. The chassis on a Blaster is so small, the little two-stroke suits a teenager willing to wring every rpm out of it. How about a Warrior? The Z-400 Suzuki has proven to be a big hit, especially with wives whose husbands have Raptors. 4-strokes are just easier to ride. I know I am spending more dough than you want, but there are some great financing deals right now. A lot of gals like the 300EX too. Warrior may be the best bang for the buck.

I would either go with the Z-400 or the 400EX. Both are great quads and are much better than the Warrior. And yes, I have ridden Warriors for 5 years before getting my new Z, so believe me I know. Based on your limited budget, you could probably get a heck of a deal on a 400EX right know. With the Z coming out, honda has offered a lot of deal, as well as the dealers are starting to see a slight decrease in sales. I am not brand loyal, there are a lot of great quads out there, but the Z and the EX would be my suggestion. Just my .02.

Still though the blaster sure is a fun machine. Her low weight will make that blaster fly.

I am not sure on the retail prices now, but at last years model change you could pick one up for less than $3000.00

Thats a deal you can ride away and feel good about.

Chet

A 250ex would be another alternative. Four stroke, Auto-clutch and mainentance free drive shaft will be good for her.

Thanks for all the input. Ok, I am on a tight budget. I don't finance any of my toys, so I am out of the market for anything over about $3k. Anyway, what about a blaster vs a warrior? Wouldn't a 200cc 2stroke take a 350 four stroke?

I might look at a used 400ex. I wouln't get her the 300 just because in stock form, it feels like a slug. That's one that I have ridden. I just hear the blaster is a total blast to ride. A friend of mine that lives pretty close has one, I'm gonna try it out, and see how it feels. Another friend of mine, Raptor8, just bought his otd for $2880. That's a bargain for a brand new quad. Plus, yamaha just upgraded it quit a bit.

I will just see how she rides. The wifes actually wants a grizzly, but that's way to pricey.

Thanks again for the input everyone...

Yes, I do this all the time and even more so after I eat the mushrooms that grow around here.

Chet confused;

Oh, and I like the 250EX too and even more so if it has the optional rear rack that can hold my mushroom picking bucket.
