New Quad for the wife
#11
i would suggest a new blaster.. ($3,199)thats a 2003. or a slighty used 300ex. i think a women would like the 300ex because it s a more comfy ride than a blaster, w/ the honda suspension and all, and they have reverse.. and you can't beat the relibablty of a 4 stroke honda..

Are you sure this is for the wife?
if so, you better give her the options and let her make the decision. she's looking for a grizzly and your envisioning her on a blaster...Two strokes require more clutch then a four stroke, Kick start everytime she stalls it, no reverse and don't forget everytime she see's someone riding another blaster, their probably going to be 16 or younger.
hell yes, a blaster is the funnest machine mentioned so far. But she may not think so.
I was pushing my wife towards a 400ex...she's the same height and weight as your wife. she wanted reverse...especialy after she found out i had it on the Raptor. I didn't give her enough credit. once we started talking to dealers and sitting on quads she took the lead. she even wanted liquid cooled. when all was said and done she went with the warrior. she like the way it felt (we guys know that the warrior is infamous for it's sit down ergonomics...non aggresive stance) and decided to forgo liquid cooling.
Bottom line: she got what she wanted...i would have loved to have a 400ex in the garage next to the raptor...but now we have a modded warrior.
compromise

Blasters will provide the most bang for the buck. For the money I would buy one over a Warrior, especially with the upgrades Yammy made this year to them. Some dealers have discounted the remaining 02s for as little as $2300 - now that's a deal. Of course she probably won't want to be eating the dust of your Raptor too long....... I guess I need to take her down and have her sit on them. Raptor660, I didn't think about her having to kick start it when she stalled it. She stalls my raptor a lot, and hasn't really been on any of the good trails. She really wants an automatic. I just want to get her something now, and get her out on the trail and excited about it. If the back has a few things she doesn't like, then she can start making her wish list about the next bike she gets. I just want to get her involved. She loves to ride, but only one quad kinda sucks to go out and take turns. I found a warrior for $500 today with no plastic (lmao when I saw it). Could of put new plastic on it for cheap, and it seems to run pretty good. Couldn't find VIN numbers anywhere...and the guy had no title. I filed a phone report with the police. Let them check it out. Anyway, I guess we need to sit on a few of them. Used 400 ex's are still pretty pricey around here. I haven't seen one under $4000. Anyone want to sell me there Z for three grand? anyone, anyone....lol
Thanks for the input. Maybe I need to forego some raptor mods, and get her something a little better to start out...that hurt just typing it!
