That is all I will be doing.... riding in the sand. I am toying with running it for another 3 or 4 runs to the dunes this year, with the plan to redo the top end over winter.

Any reason why I can't expect it to continue running at least satisfactory for that long? I have heard stories of guys cracking skirts if the cylinder wear is too excessive, then the skirt drops into the case and you are looking at big dollars. Maybe the guy that told me that story has a good imagination combined with a bad experience, I just don't know how likely it is and don't want to chance killing the bottom end.

Thanks,
Dean

in my opinion i think it should be fine for alot more than a few dune runs, but thats a good idea you have to redo the top end over the winter.(better safe than sorry). but if i were you before you go riding i would drain all the old gas that that guy had in it and mix a new batch 20:1 or richer with 100%systhenic or some good racing oil. also drain the crankcase and put new oil in there too..

also do what everyeone else is saying by opening the throttle when kickig it over..

Cool, I was hoping that sounded safe. Fortunately, since it was shipped to me, all of the fluids had to be drained, so I have all new fluids to put into it.

Someone else posted yesterday that by running rich (more oil) you can actually cause the bike to run hotter due to additional oil that slows down the flow of fuel through the jets (thicker mixture), does that make sense???

I have always heard that less oil caused the bike to run hotter/leaner.

Also, I noticed that my choke won't stay pulled out when I pull on it (it just pops back in). If I get a set of carb kits this winter, will it come with new choke rods? Also, does this sound like the carbs have a lot of wear?

Thanks again to everyone that has helped, much appreciated,
Dean
